  • S1E11 How Do We Celebrate?
    Jun 17 2024

In this episode, I reflect on celebrating Pride Month amidst global turmoil, including conflicts in Gaza, Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Ukraine. I discuss the impact of these crises on vulnerable populations, especially children, and the significance of advocating for LGBTQ rights during an election year that could shape the future of human rights. The episode emphasizes the importance of balancing celebration with activism, encouraging listeners to support humanitarian efforts and participate in political advocacy to protect and advance LGBTQ rights.

Welcome and Thank you for joining us for Troubles & Transitions in the Healthcare Hustle.

Join me while I chat with Kailey. Kailey is my 15 year old child, who has been aware, vocal, and straight forward about their gender identity since they were 3. I’ve done my best to follow their lead and will always be learning and doing things better. We did not discuss any questions prior to recording, with the exception of boundaries they wanted to set. Kailey has been, and will always be, the driving force behind my passion for what I do and are the reason I will, unstoppably, change the world. If you are a parent of a trans kid, I’d be happy to connect with you to share my experience, however this is not about me, or any other parent. This is about our trans youth and doing better for them.

Again, welcome, and I’m so glad you’re here.

Join me in a chat with Justin, a young gay man, in his 20s. Justin highlights some problematic areas in our healthcare system here, in Hawai’i, as he tells stories of his first encounters in the medical world upon moving to O'ahu. I have done my best to omit any identifying factors of where these experiences took place, but they will be brought to the attention of leadership, so we can continue to provide better care for our community.
