Welcome to the last podcast for 2025

I want to talk about something that’s barely registering in the news these days. That’s this current Super Flu, H3N2, that’s now widespread across the country earlier than normal. The nearly defunct CDC is reporting 4.6 million Super Flu cases, 49000 hospitalizations and 1900 deaths, so far, since September. And this is just the stats from the U.S.

As we come to the close of another year, according to the Roman calendar, I’m hearing more and more that people are suffering from burnout. A burnout caused by sensationalist news media that hits us every waking moment of our lives nowadays.

We’re tired of hearing about economies failing, hearing about thousands of people dying around the world in all manner of ways, and our governments failing us every time we elect someone new to replace the feckless ones that failed us before. Maybe we should take a lesson from Bulgaria where the people just protested large and loudly enough to oust their government.

In the U.S., things are starting to reach a fever pitch in a lot of places.

I have so much going on this month, I’m having trouble keeping up, so I’m going to make this a short one this week, sort of.

Lately, I’ve been picking up more and more IT gig work from this company I’ve been working for, for the last five years. They want me to take care of corporate computer refreshes and network printer installs out the wazoo lately and I can’t seem to get ahead on my own work. The worst part is, like all gig work, the pay sucks and there’s no benefits. How many of you can relate?

This week, I want to touch on a point again about something near and dear to my heart. I know I’ve said this a few times before that I’m married to a foreign born wife, who has a daughter living in another state, also foreign born and these days, I’m constantly worried for their safety.

So, gather round, sit you down somewhere comfortable for a bit and let’s talk about what Trump’s latest anti-immigrant foreign policies might mean for people like us.

I’m a bit angry these days as I watch everything collapse around me. I went to a Thanksgiving dinner party last Thursday at the behest of my wife and as usual, there was someone there whom I hadn’t met before, who just had to ask me about my life, just because I’m different, as in not Chinese. I was the only white guy at this party, and also wearing my signature retired Army ball cap.

I’ve learned in the past not to try and hide anything from anyone because people just don’t know how to leave others alone. When in an intimate gathering with strangers, they just seem to have this incessant need to want to know everything about people they don’t know.

So, in my usual fashion, I answered this gentleman’s questions about myself, without any censorship, which led us down some rabbit holes later in the evening. For which my dear wife admonished me for after we got home. She said I was scaring people. Well, maybe people should be scared.

I'm back and still wicked busy right now but I'm taking some time out from all of my projects to, once again, talk about what’s on my mind. The topics I have in mind are also probably on a lot of other people's minds as well as the country heads into what the retailers call the holiday season.

As promised, I'll keep it relatively short. What I want to address today, are the prices and looming shortages in the grocery stores and other retail stores we normally shop in every week just to stay afloat from day to day.

I’m going to make this as short as possible this week as I have a lot of pressing things going on these days.

I was contacted today by a IT staffing company that I occasionally do gig work for, to work a couple of days next week, one of which will be Wednesday. So, this will be my last post for a couple of weeks until I have some free time to sit down and write something again.

In the meantime, I’m still working on my website to make it more presentable and add in my photography efforts through the years. I’m about half way there to date and I’ll let everyone know when I’ve uploaded all of the changes.

Then there is the added time constraint of completing my final photography project for this community college class I’ve been taking this fall.
