Über diesen Titel

Welcome to The Still Hopeful Podcast, where we talk about the twists and turns of pregnancy after loss and the highs and lows of life postpartum. I’m Serena, a mom who knows this journey firsthand. My first baby, my sweet Christopher, was stillborn at full term, and now I hold my precious baby girl, Veronica, in my arms. Christopher’s loss, the uncertainty of pregnancy afterward, and the joy of welcoming Veronica home are all parts of my story.

I created this podcast to share my experience and connect with others who understand. Here, we’ll talk openly about grief, the challenges of pregnancy after loss, and the ups and downs of parenting all of our babies. Whether you’re navigating a new pregnancy after experiencing pregnancy loss, or parenting after loss, you’re not alone. Let’s walk this road together with honesty, hope, and healing.

  • Episode 51: In honour of Autumn's Second Heavenly Birthday
    Dec 24 2025

We couldn't get through this episode without crying. Sonia speaks about her baby girl, Autumn so beautifully and with so much love. Her sweet girl was stillborn at 32 weeks after battling three years of infertility. We talk about the moment she learned the heartbreaking news and the birth of her sweet daughter.

"I can't live in a world where I can't connect with her" is something Sonia shares and it resonated so deeply with me. We talk about signs and all of the ways that Autumn has shown up for her. We say we feel less crazy when we hear other people's stories too. Too many stories that go beyond coincidences and it just has to be our babies.

We also laugh a lot because there's something so comforting about finding another mom who's part of this club too.

Sonia is also pregnant again and I can't wait to have her back on the podcast to talk all things pregnancy after loss and all the layers that brings.

  • Episode 49: Returning Back to Work
    Dec 8 2025

Hi everyone! I'm back from a two month break so let's call this season 3 of the podcast now.

This episode is about going back to work after having my rainbow baby girl. I've navigated returning to work after my leave from Christopher's stillbirth and it was absolutely heart-wrenching. Going back to work when I should have had to plan out childcare and routines...it just reminded me of everything I had lost when I lost him. And so when I returned to work after having Veronica, it really changed my perspective on things. This is like the 5th trimester for us...figuring out what life looks like now that I'm back at work and balancing what motherhood looks like now.

I give tips about meal planning, setting boundaries, planning a back to work wardrobe, and all the layers that come with returning back to work. After recording, I always wish I went in detail about a few more things! Like I didn’t mention the emotional toll it took to wean from breastfeeding in order to prepare for back to work. Or when I talked about gender in pregnancy after loss, how that is such a layered topic. Always more we could go into so if you ever want to continue the conversation, please know you can message me on instagram.

I hope this resonates with you and I'd love to hear how you're preparing for back to work or what has helped you with navigating this new transition. And if you're not returning back to work and have chosen to stay home, please know that is a HUGE and important job in itself and the tips I share can resonate with you too.
