  • The Good Nurse — The Crimes of Charles Cullen
    Apr 21 2026

In this episode of The Room Went Dark Amalie & Lorraine take a deep dive into The Good Nurse, the chilling true-crime drama that brings one of the most disturbing medical serial killer cases to the screen. We explore how the film portrays the real-life crimes of Charles Cullen, a nurse who is believed to have murdered dozens, possibly hundred, of patients over a 16-year period.

We start by unpacking the film itself, its tone, performances, and storytelling choices. We discuss how the movie balances suspense with emotional depth, particularly through the perspective of Amy Loughren, the ICU nurse who ultimately helped stop Cullen.

From there, we shift into the real case. Who was Charles Cullen? How was he able to move between hospitals undetected for so long? We examine systemic failures in healthcare institutions, including lack of communication between employers and fear of legal consequences that allowed Cullen to continue his crimes.

We also discuss the psychological aspects of the case—what may have driven Cullen, and whether the film succeeds in exploring or humanising him without excusing his actions.

What did you think of The Good Nurse? Did the film do justice to the real story?

  • The Utah Cabin Murders: When a Vacation Turned Into a Nightmare
    Apr 14 2026

In this episode of The Room Went Dark, Amalie and Lorraine break down the chilling horror film The Utah Cabin Murders, a low-budget thriller inspired by a real-life tragedy. What begins as a peaceful family getaway in a remote cabin quickly spirals into a brutal home invasion—and a desperate fight for survival.

We explore the film’s story, its real-world inspiration, and whether it succeeds as a horror retelling… or misses the mark.

The Tiede family spent quality family time at their cabin in Oakley, Utah. Rolf and Kay Tiede are joined by their two daughters, Linae and Tricia, and Kaye's mother, Beth Potts. In December 1990 Von Lester Taylor and Edward Steven Deli would enter the home and murder Kay and Beth, kidnap Linae and Tricia and attempt to murder Rolf. Luckily the two girls and their father would survive the horrific ordeal.
