What matters more to God: what you do or why you do it?

In this episode of One Gospel, Johan Toet explores what Scripture teaches about the condition and motivation of our hearts.

Using giving as a practical example, he challenges us to examine whether we give out of obligation, fear or an attempt to receive something from God—or because we genuinely trust Him and want to worship Him.

Through the example of David in 1 Chronicles 29, discover what it means to approach God with a willing, surrendered and upright heart.

God doesn’t only see what you do. He sees the heart behind it.

In this episode of One Gospel, we explore a foundational truth: genuine forgiveness must come from the heart.

Many believers want to move on from painful experiences, but continue to carry bitterness and unforgiveness. This message reveals why saying the right words does not always mean that our hearts have changed.

Johan Toet shares how he struggled with hatred and bitterness toward people who had betrayed him. Even after encountering Jesus in prison, he found it difficult to forgive them.

As he began to understand the forgiveness he had received through Christ, Johan learned to see those people with compassion and eventually forgive them from his heart.

Through Matthew 15, Psalm 139 and James 4, he also explores the importance of a sincere heart and the danger of being double-minded.

This episode will help you reflect on what you are holding in your heart and how God's love and forgiveness can transform the way you respond to others.

In this episode of One Gospel, Johan Toet challenges us to examine the heart behind what we do.

People see our actions.

God sees our motivation.

Through 1 Corinthians 13, Johan explains that even faith, knowledge, spiritual gifts, generosity and sacrifice lose their purpose when love is missing.

Following Jesus isn't about trying to impress God or other people with everything we accomplish.

Good works should flow from the love of God that has already been poured into our hearts.

So instead of only asking what you are doing for God, there is another question worth asking:

Why are you doing it?

In this episode of One Gospel, Johan explores Jesus' command to love our enemies, do good to those who hate us and treat others the way we would want to be treated ourselves.

He also challenges us to move beyond simply saying that we love people.

Biblical love becomes visible.

It serves. It helps.

It gives. It makes time.

And sometimes it costs us something.

Jesus loved us that way.

Now He calls us to love others the same way.

What does it really mean to know Jesus not only as your Savior, but to truly follow Him?

In this episode of the One Gospel Podcast, Johan Toet takes you to the heart of the Gospel—a heart that is not focused solely on what we can receive for ourselves, but on a love that becomes visible in the way we live, speak, and treat the people around us.

Jesus was repeatedly moved with compassion for people. He saw their pain, their needs, and their lostness—and He never remained at a distance. But if we say that His life is also living in us, what does that mean for the way we look at others today?

This episode asks a challenging question: Can we truly say that Jesus is Lord of our lives when His heart is barely visible in our actions?

Listen and discover why the heart of the Gospel goes far beyond simply believing.
