  • New York Weather March 4 Evening - Winter Weather Advisory
    Mar 4 2026
Good evening. New York. I'm Aaron Jolly. That wintry mix coating windshields overnight is finally exiting stage right. About six-tenths of an inch of snow fell in the last 24 hours. And if you stepped outside early, you felt that damp chill at 34 degrees. But here's the good news. We get a break today. In the next 24 hours. Let's start in New York City. Light rain tapers off by 4 A.M., leaving patchy fog for the early commute. Skies turn partly sunny by midday with a high of 47 degrees. Tonight, patchy fog returns as temperatures hold steady around 40. Head north to the Capital Region and the messy mix winds down by 3 A.M. Watch for slippery spots on untreated surfaces early. Then mostly sunny skies take over with a high of 48. Tonight turns cold. Lows drop to 28 under partly cloudy skies. Out in Western New York, a Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 11 A.M. Visibility could drop to a quarter mile near Lake Erie. Once the fog lifts, expect a mostly sunny afternoon with a high of 48. Tonight brings increasing clouds and a low of 33. Central New York sees a similar story. Patchy fog early, then partly sunny with a high of 45. Tonight's low falls to 31. Now the pattern shift. Rain returns Thursday and Thursday night statewide. The steadiest rain falls Thursday night into Friday morning, with some areas picking up a half-inch to an inch. Then. Spring shows up. Highs surge into the upper 50s and low 60s this weekend. By Tuesday, we could hit 65 degrees in spots. The spring equinox is just 16 days away. And next week will feel like it's already here. Tonight's full moon should shine through any breaking clouds. We're gaining nearly three minutes of daylight each day now. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.

  • New York Weather March 3 Midday - Winter Weather Advisory
    Mar 4 2026
Good afternoon. New York. I'm Jack O'Malley. Folks, there's a warm front stalled just south of us right now. It's shoving moisture straight into cold air that won't move. That collision is the whole story tonight. And it's a messy one. In the next 24 hours. Winter Weather Advisories are up for Rockland and Northern Westchester until 10 P.M. Freezing rain is the threat. That's the kind of ice that coats your windshield, your steps, your driveway. If you're in those counties, slow down and stay cautious. Down in the city, rain rolls in around 7 P.M. and sticks around overnight. Temperatures park at 37 degrees. Not cold enough to freeze, but just cold enough to feel miserable. Wednesday brightens up. Partly sunny, high near 48 degrees. A welcome reset. Push north to the Capital Region and things get complicated. Snow, sleet. And freezing rain all show up this evening like uninvited guests. One to three inches of snow before it changes over. Lows right at 32 degrees, that knife's edge where everything matters. Wednesday clears out nicely though. Mostly sunny, 48 degrees. Western New York, your rain wraps up by 10 P.M. Patchy fog settles in overnight as lows dip to 30 degrees. Wednesday brings sunshine and 47 degrees. Central New York, similar deal. Rain ends before midnight. Fog creeps in late, lows around 33 degrees. Wednesday hits 45 degrees under partly sunny skies. Now the week ahead gets interesting. Wednesday's your dry window. Thursday and Friday, a warm front lifts north bringing widespread rain. But the plot twist? This weekend. Temperatures surge into the 60s. Saturday and Sunday feel like April showed up early. With all that rain plus warmth, rivers will rise. Ice jams and flooding are on my radar. One more thing. Tonight's full moon rises at sunset. If those clouds break. Worth a look. I'll be tracking that freezing rain all evening. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. Take care! That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.

  • New York Weather March 3 Evening - 28° Above Normal
    Mar 4 2026
Good evening. New York. I'm Jack O'Malley. That light drizzle hitting your windshield? It’s just the opening act for a messy transition night. We picked up about six-tenths of an inch of snow overnight, but the atmosphere isn't done with us yet. In the next 24 hours. In Here's trouble spot, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Rockland and northern Westchester until 10 P.M. Freezing rain is the main threat there, ready to glaze over any untreated surfaces this evening. If you're driving through those suburbs, take it slow. Down in the city, you escape the ice but not the wetness. Rain develops right around 7 P.M. With temperatures holding steady near 37 degrees. You might even see some patchy fog roll in late tonight, making for a damp commute in the morning. Head north to the Capital Region and the picture gets trickier. Freezing rain mixes with sleet between 7 P.M. and 2 A.M. You could pick up to three inches of snow before it changes over, meaning roads turn slick fast once that precipitation starts. Western and Central New York see rain this evening, finally tapering off by 28 degrees or 11 P.M. Lows dip to around 30 to 33 degrees overnight, with some patchy fog developing. Wednesday brings clearing skies and highs in the mid to upper 40s. But don't get used to the dry weather—Thursday and Friday turn wet again, though we stay mild. Then comes the weekend plot twist. Saturday brings highs in the upper 50s to low 60s statewide. Sunday and Monday keep that mild air east of the lakes, hanging near 60 degrees. That's running 28 degrees to 28 degrees above normal for early March. Spring is knocking loudly—just 17 days until the equinox. In One last thing, we've a full moon tonight. If the clouds break, it will be a bright one. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. Take care That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
