If you're driving, take it slow — that mist is hiding everything from potholes to brake lights. In the next 24 hours. In Here's situation, rain is knocking on the door. North Jersey gets wet first, right around 7 P.M. Central Jersey follows as the evening goes on. South Jersey, you stay damp well into tomorrow morning. Most of us pick up a quarter to half an inch of rain. But here's the catch for the higher elevations. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Passaic County until 10 P.M. Freezing rain could glaze the roads before temperatures climb above freezing. It's a classic setup where a mile down the road is rain, but you're dealing with ice. Meanwhile, dense fog has wrapped the entire state like a wet blanket. Visibility drops to a quarter mile in spots. That fog advisory runs until 10 P.M. Tonight. North Jersey sits at 36 degrees with light rain. That rain peaks around 7 P.M. Temperatures hold steady overnight, then climb into the 50s by morning. Drive south on the Turnpike into Central Jersey and you pick up a couple degrees. Thirty eight and foggy. Rain intensifies there by 9 P.M. Down at the Shore, you're the warm kids today. Forty two degrees. Still damp, still gray, but noticeably milder. Lows tonight barely dip to 41. Now the good news. Wednesday, high pressure muscles in. Skies crack open.
