First of a 2 part episode on Aristotle's Logic.

Last time, in part one, we met Aristotle the man, but today, we begin where Aristotle himself begins, with logic.

Because Aristotle believes that before you can understand the world, study nature, or even talk about ethics, politics, or the soul, you must first learn how to think. Not what to think, or what to believe, and certainly not what conclusions to reach…. But how to think.

Aristotle is convinced that clear thinking is the foundation of a clear life. And in a world full of noise, persuasion, rhetoric, half‑truths, and confident people who are wrong with great enthusiasm… Aristotle’s logic feels surprisingly modern.

Logic is not about being clever, winning arguments, or showing off. For Aristotle, logic is about clarity, honesty, intellectual humility, the pursuit of truth, and the health of the soul. Logic for him is a type of discipline. It trains the mind the way virtue trains the character. It teaches us to slow down, to examine, to test, to question, to follow the thread of an idea all the way to its conclusion. And in that sense, Aristotle’s logic is not just a tool for philosophers; it’s a tool for life.

So, what will we explore in this special 2-part epsiode.

Today, we turn a corner, because now we meet Aristotle, Plato’s greatest student, and his most important critic. A man who admired his teacher deeply, learned from him for twenty years, and then quietly said, “Yes… but have you actually looked at the real world?”

If Plato taught us to look up, Aristotle teaches us to look around. Plato gave us the heavens and the spiritual; Aristotle gives us the earth and the physical.

Plato gave us ideals; Aristotle gives us the particulars.

Plato gave us the Forms. Aristotle gives us form in things.

And in doing so, Aristotle becomes one of the most influential thinkers in history, a man who introduced and shaped logic, science, ethics, politics, theology, and the entire intellectual tradition of the West.

This episode is the first of a six-part exploration of his astonishing mind.

The Death of Socrates: A Cup, a Choice, and a Comparison with the Death of Christ.

Welcome back to my four-part journey through the life and ideas of Socrates. A journey that has taken us through the streets of Athens, into the marketplace of ideas, and deep into the inner world of a man who believed that the examined life was the only life worth living.

Today, we arrive at the moment when philosophy becomes active. Where ideas become action, and where conviction is seen in acts of courage. Today, we sit with Socrates as he faces the final hours of his life. This is not just the story of a philosopher’s death. It is the story of a choice, a deliberate, unwavering choice to remain faithful to truth, virtue, even when the cost is everything.

Socrates has been condemned. The hemlock has been prepared, and his friends are urging him to escape. But Socrates remains calm. He refuses to flee, and he refuses to compromise. He refuses to betray the principles he has spent his life teaching. Instead, he takes the cup, not as a victim, not as a martyr for a political cause. But as a man who believes that it is better to suffer wrong than to do wrong, better to die with integrity than to live with a corrupted soul.
