Live music venues are crucial to the ecosystem of artists; places for them to hone their craft while developing an audience. They're a place where culture is shaped, where fans discover the artists they will support forever, and to find and create community.

But venues are facing incredible challenges, financially and with shifting consumer habits. In the upcoming documentary "Vanishing Venues", the filmmaker Meredith Marshall looks at the role of consequential venues, large, small and in-between, famous and lesser known, and how they have shaped music and our culture.

In this talk at our Salon, "The Indie Music Network Live", Meredith spoke about the goals and vision of the documentary.
