Jack Hanson spends the night waiting for someone who never comes.

At first, the silence feels familiar. Almost comforting. The stale city air drifting through the open window. The sound of traffic below the fire escape. Two cups of coffee slowly going cold in the kitchen.

But the longer Jack waits, the stranger the apartment begins to feel.

The quiet stretches too far. The memories stop lining up. And somewhere in the middle of the night, Jack sees a man climbing down the fire escape outside his window.

A man who looks exactly like him.“Fire Escape” is where Jack realizes the distance between who he was and who he’s becoming can no longer be crossed.

Jack Hanson discovers something buried in the recordings.

Not in the words, but underneath them. At first, it sounds like static. A glitch. A flaw in the recording. Something that changes every time it's played back. At first, he thinks it’s distortion, interference, or even equipment failure.

But it doesn’t stay the same.

It shifts.

It deepens.

It starts to sound like… something trying to be understood.

And the deeper he listens, the harder it becomes to ignore. The tapes aren’t just recording him. They're listening back, and they're responding.

“Static” is where the signal begins to bleed through.

Jack Hanson starts to lose control.

Not all at once. Not violently. Just... piece by piece. The gaps in his memory aren’t just getting longer; they’re starting to feel intentional. Moments that don't belong to him. Places he doesn't recognize.

Decisions that don't feel like his.

A growing sense that something else is moving when he isn't. And for the first time, Jack stops trying to explain it away. He doesn't call it a blackout.

He gives it a name.

He calls it a passenger.

“The Passenger” is where control begins to slip, and something else starts taking the wheel.
