We live for craft beer and food.

We are Adam and Dedra! We're on a mission to find the best craft beer and the most ridiculously delicious food we can get our hands on. Based in Arizona, but powered by hops and road trips, we will go wherever the beer flows and the plates are full.

Expect brewery and food reviews, beer-fueled banter, and probably a few questionable decisions (like that time Adam tried a 18.5% barrel aged stout on an empty stomach). Whether it's a tiny taproom in the desert or a big-name brewery in the Pacific Northwest, if it pours, we’re in.

Come for the beer, stay for the fun, and leave with a craving for your next foodie stop.

  • Sleepy Whale Phoenix: Hazy IPAs, Smoked Wings & Craft Beer
    Sep 10 2026

Episode 24 - Sleepy Whale’s Phoenix location gave us a new place to work through a ridiculous amount of craft beer without having to make the trek all the way across the Valley.

We start this episode with a strawberry and rhubarb crumble Berliner-style Weisse from Energy City Brewing. At first, rhubarb seemed like the dominant flavor. Then the beer warmed up and Dedra decided it tasted like strawberry applesauce. Strangely enough, Adam couldn't completely disagree. Apparently alcoholic applesauce is a thing now.

From there, we recap our visit to Sleepy Whale near Central and Camelback. Our afternoon started with four hazy IPAs from Everywhere, North Park Beer Co., Hop Butcher, and RAR Brewing, ranging from relatively easy-drinking to a 9.1% double New England hazy IPA.

Because we were there with a group, those four beers quickly turned into tastings from all over the tap list.

We also get into the food, especially some seriously meaty hickory-smoked dry-rub wings that had us questioning what kind of workout routine these chickens were following. The brisket sandwich was good, although Adam wanted a little more seasoning and smoke.

    Then came the can coolers.

Adam found Juice and Stampede from Ten Barn Brewing, Dedra went straight for Drekker’s Mango Orange Banana BRAAAAAAAINS, and a shared bottle of Pure Project’s Campfire Classic became one of Adam’s favorite beers of the afternoon.

Sleepy Whale combines a big draft lineup, hard-to-find cans, smoked food, and the kind of atmosphere that makes it very easy to stay longer than planned.

  • PoNy’s Miches + Tap Savvy: The Perfect Beer & Ceviche Day
    Sep 3 2026

Episode 23 - Fresh ceviche, fried mahi-mahi, French fries hidden inside a burrito and a tap list ranging from Mexican lager to a 14.2% barrel-aged stout. This week's adventure only required two stops.

We started at PoNy’s Miches, where Dedra grabbed ceviche while Adam committed to a massive Cali-style Baja burrito with fried mahi-mahi. From there, we carried everything over to Tap Savvy in Litchfield Park, one of the West Valley taprooms we have been visiting for years.

The food quickly turned into an accidental beer-pairing experiment. Dedra paired her ceviche with Cerveza Original De Tombstone, while Adam matched his fried fish burrito with Tombstone Brewing Company's Oregon Lots II Double IPA.

    Then things escalated.

We talk about Churriosity from The Bruery, Birthday Suit from Goldwater Brewing, Bitter End. from Lake Pleasant Brewing, and the beer that became one of Adam's favorites of the afternoon: O.H.S.O.'s 14.2% Barrel-aged Te Quiero.

We also explain why our original plan to buy absolutely no beer from Tap Savvy's cooler somehow ended with four cans coming home with us. Apparently once you have three beers in a four-can carrier, buying a fourth is no longer spending money. It is just fixing a balance problem.

The beer we're sharing during the conversation is Pulp from RAR Brewing, a 6.2% beer loaded with the juicy orange character that immediately grabbed our attention.

Add in Dedra's Captain Autism flannel, ceviche leftovers, Adam's broken-heel stories and the invention of the “beerometer,” and this supposedly simple afternoon gave us plenty to talk about.

Follow The Adam & Dedra Show and send us your brewery, beer and food recommendations for future adventures.

  • Phantom Fox, a 13-Hour Downtown Mesa Beer Crawl, and Burritoholics...? OK!
    Aug 27 2026

Episode 22 - A birthday celebration, a willing designated driver and a loose plan to explore the east side of Phoenix somehow turned into a roughly 13-hour craft beer and food crawl, with Phantom Fox in Downtown Mesa becoming the featured brewery along the way.

We start this episode with Sky Riot from Original 40, a double dry hopped West Coast IPA we picked up during our recent San Diego trip, then get into a day where we intentionally stopped trying to document every beer and simply enjoyed ourselves.

That plan worked. Maybe a little too well.

At Bone Haus Brewing, we revisit one of our favorite Arizona brewery atmospheres, try the Honor Flight and experience our first Mlíko-style Czech foam pour. Trevor’s brings pizza, a Beer Babes collaboration for Dedra and Saturated Solutions from North Park, a 10% hazy triple IPA that Adam decides is appropriate for an Arizona afternoon.

    Then Downtown Mesa takes over.

We bounce between Chupacabra Taproom, Oro, Burrito Holics, Beer Research and Phantom Fox, all within an incredibly compact area. Along the way we meet the owner of Homeland Brewing, discover freshly fried chicharrones that nearly change Dedra’s life and eventually make our way to Phantom Fox.

There, Ceviche, a double dry hopped cold IPA, immediately grabs Dedra’s attention while Adam orders Goose Suits. More importantly, we see how much Phantom Fox has progressed since our earlier visit.

This episode is less about tasting notes and more about why we love doing this in the first place: good beer, good food, friends and conversations with people we meet along the way.
