You finish a wedding film. You're genuinely proud of it. You send it to the couple, get back a message saying it's the best money they spent on the day. Then you open Instagram and within ten minutes you're convinced you're not good enough to be doing this job.

Danny and Jason are back after their first ever skipped week, and they're getting into something every wedding filmmaker feels but rarely says out loud. The industry is improving fast, almost too fast, and it's becoming harder than ever to scroll without comparing your work to someone else's highlight reel from a better lit day with a bigger budget and a smoother run of show.

They talk honestly about the mental spiral that happens when you post a teaser you're proud of and immediately get served fifteen other videographers' best work, why nobody's wedding day is actually as flawless as the final film makes it look, and the now infamous story from a CODA event where a videographer broke down everything that went wrong behind one of his most celebrated films, gimbal failure and all.

Danny also shares the reality of trying new gear on a live wedding day, including a camcorder handed to the wrong bridesmaid entirely, and why experimenting in public always feels worse before it gets better. The conclusion is simple but worth hearing again: you're not making films for your peers, you're making them for the people who were actually there, and that's the only comparison that matters.

Enquiries are down across the industry. There are more photographers and videographers competing for the same couples than ever before. And most people's answer is to just post more and hope for the best. This week Danny and Jason get into why Meta ads might be the thing you've been putting off that could actually change your enquiry rate, and how to do them properly.

Jason has been running ads consistently for seven months and breaks down exactly what's worked, what flopped, and the one thing most videographers get wrong when they start. Spoiler: it's stopping too early. He explains how Meta's algorithm actually learns over time, why cutting an ad before it has enough data basically resets everything, and why the content that performs best as an ad probably isn't what you think it is.

His two best performing ads have nothing to do with showcasing wedding films. One hit 890,000 views. A wedding planner saw it and booked him for a wedding in August. The other generated a booking too. Both were shot on his phone.

Jason talks through the mistakes he made when he first started, including accidentally targeting the wrong audience entirely, and why ads work brilliantly as a background tool that keeps your business visible even during the months when life takes over and you're barely posting. They also cover why boosting content that's already performed well organically is one of the most efficient things you can do with a small ad budget, and why doing it on your computer rather than your phone saves you 30% straight away.
