Poppy Sugden is a wonderfully sunny human. After our paths first crossed on the Isle of Arran, mine and Poppy's friendship grew through a love of the outdoors, cold water swims and walks by the ocean. When Norah Hale was 9 years old, she set out on a sponsored walk to raise money for the Community of Arran Seabed Trust. Ever since then, she's been inspired by British wildlife. Now 14 years old, this episode was recorded on the day she finished a week of work experience with COAST. In this episode, we chat about Norah's love of Arran, scuba diving and her path towards a career in conservation.

In today's episode, I'm chatting with Lily Hawkes, Marine Engagement Assistant at the Community of Arran Seabed Trust.

Sharing our name and a deep love for the sea, Lily and I met for the first time in April when she moved to Arran to work as a seasonal Marine Engagement Assistant at the Community of Arran Seabed Trust. From cuttlefish and kelp forests to maerl beds and marine protected areas, Lily's fascination for the underwater world is evident from the moment you enter the Discovery Centre. Brimming with interesting facts and an innate drive to advocate for change, in this episode Lily reflects on her desire to keep learning about our seas and the role of nostalgia in keeping our ocean connection alive.
