Trigger warning, this podcast contains discussions relating to PTSD, trauma, mental health, suicide and other potentially distressing experiences. If you or someone you know is struggling with their mental health, you can call Lifeline on 13 11 14.
You are not broken, you are rebuilding.
That is a mantra I live by and that has seen me able to overcome some enormous challenges in my life.
In this podcast I will be interviewing incredible people about what happens after the worst moments in their lives and how they live alongside their trauma, rebuild, and keep going.
But to start this podcast, I am joined by my incredible friend Lisa Messenger who will be interviewing me to explain my story, what I have experienced and the lessons I have learnt along the way.
In this episode we share:
- My years in elite police squads
- My experience working undercover and in organised crime
- How I became a domestic violence survivor
- The PTSD diagnosis that followed
- My father’s devastating assault
- The breast cancer diagnosis I received
- How I coped with PTSD and cancer at the same time
- The treatments that helped me heal
- The role my Labrador played
- How I rebuilt after multiple traumas
- Why finding collateral beauty in adversity was important
- Why I created this podcast
- The importance of helping others rebuild and reinvent
