  • October 2026 — Big Bear Bonds and the Road Ahead
    Oct 6 2026
October 2026 brings PRT home from Big Bear with fresh motivation for the season ahead. Ashley and Zube share camp reflections from Dan Mahaffey, first-timer Rafa Almeida, and Jorge Alcala: the Onyx climb, Taylor Warren's coaching, junior development, shared meals, and a NiteRider-supported night ride. They connect that weekend to Sunday's Gran Fondo training toward El Tour de Tucson, the 2027 sponsor announcement and Castelli kit reveal, and proposed bicycle safety improvements on Bonita Road. Also covered: • September's Adopt-A-Highway crew and year-end volunteer requirements. • The final Racers Cup standings, repeated from September rather than newly changed. • Weekly rides, member marketplace reminders, and staying connected through PRT's event channels. Planning notes: El Tour de Tucson is listed for November 21. At the October 6 update, kit-store links were forthcoming, with January delivery expected. The Bonita Road proposal still required County Board of Supervisors approval; spring construction was conditional. No new multisport results or standings were supplied. Confirm current schedules, member benefits, and individual reimbursement eligibility with the team. RSVP Going when attending and record completed volunteer hours. • August 2026 — The Race I Needed
    Aug 6 2026
Arriving almost back-to-back with the delayed July episode, Ashley and Zube give August 2026 its own distinct identity: hard-earned lessons, mountain heat, and the people who help one another keep moving. At the heart of the episode is Cruz Rodriguez's candid account of Ironman 70.3 Ruidoso. They unpack the sleep, breathing, mechanical, pacing, and nutrition problems that reshaped his day—and why a 6:38 finish became one of his most valuable races. They also celebrate Mario Valdes's 5:23 finish on the high-altitude course and the family, leadership, and teammates behind both athletes. The conversation climbs into Tour de Big Bear's 70-mile route, an 88-degree ascent toward Onyx Peak, and the judgment to turn back when the heat becomes unsafe. It also spotlights Jessica Flores, Source Endurance, Freddy Lindo's return to cycling in Sweden and his Tour de France visit, August's Adopt-A-Highway event, and a Racer Cup top four separated by only 10 points. Plus: Solana Beach podiums for Jessica Flores, James Wersal, and Morgan Stilwell; the new PRT Multisport Cup; the Chula Vista Challenge on August 16; the Dick Evans Memorial in Hawaii on August 23; and the Big Bear Molina Camp on October 2-4.
