  • Episode 12: August 2026 — The Race I Needed
    Aug 6 2026
Arriving almost back-to-back with the delayed July episode, Ashley and Zube give August 2026 its own distinct identity: hard-earned lessons, mountain heat, and the people who help one another keep moving. At the heart of the episode is Cruz Rodriguez's candid account of Ironman 70.3 Ruidoso. They unpack the sleep, breathing, mechanical, pacing, and nutrition problems that reshaped his day—and why a 6:38 finish became one of his most valuable races. They also celebrate Mario Valdes's 5:23 finish on the high-altitude course and the family, leadership, and teammates behind both athletes. The conversation climbs into Tour de Big Bear's 70-mile route, an 88-degree ascent toward Onyx Peak, and the judgment to turn back when the heat becomes unsafe. It also spotlights Jessica Flores, Source Endurance, Freddy Lindo's return to cycling in Sweden and his Tour de France visit, August's Adopt-A-Highway event, and a Racer Cup top four separated by only 10 points. Plus: Solana Beach podiums for Jessica Flores, James Wersal, and Morgan Stilwell; the new PRT Multisport Cup; the Chula Vista Challenge on August 16; the Dick Evans Memorial in Hawaii on August 23; and the Big Bear Molina Camp on October 2-4. • Episode 11: July 2026 — The Long Ride Home
    Aug 5 2026
Ashley and Zube are back with the July 2026 update for Padyak Racing Team, and this one feels like the middle-of-summer reset after a huge first half of the season. They center the episode on Brandon van Baggen's Long Ride Home, a 2,200-kilometer ride from Portland to Coronado that began on July 7, 2026 in support of veteran mental health through Project Echelon. They talk about why that story lands so deeply inside PRT, how cycling shaped Brandon's path from novice racer to mentor, and how the July 7-28 virtual ride gave the wider community a way to take part. They also cover Tour de Big Bear on August 1, 2026, the June road-racing reset and still-tight Racer Cup standings, Dalton Subaru's support of La Copa San Diego, Dzuyen Tran's Adopt-A-Highway and shelter-dog volunteer push, PRT's conversations with Chula Vista Councilmember Jose Preciado, velodrome opportunities, and the new PRT Marketplace. Plus: PRT Multisport's San Diego International Triathlon results from June 28, 2026, the Road to Ruidoso lead-in, and the stretch of the calendar that this July moment was building toward: Manhattan Beach Grand Prix on July 12, Costa Mesa Grand Prix on July 19, Solana Beach Triathlon on July 26, and the Dick Evans Memorial in Hawaii on August 23. • Episode 10: June 2026 — La Copa Delivered
    Jun 9 2026

Ashley and Zube are back with the June 2026 update for Padyak Racing Team, and the season's biggest weekend just delivered. They break down the full La Copa San Diego Omnium results — four first-place PRT podiums in a single day at the JKC Memorial Hunte Parkway Road Race, including Amelia Conkel's omnium win and Louie Tejeda's and Armen Khachadourian's category victories. They spotlight the massive volunteer effort behind the event (over 235 logged hours), the kids community bike race, the Perros Bravos 5K, and the collaboration with SDBC that made the two-day omnium possible. They also cover the Memorial Weekend tribute rides through Point Loma and Mount Soledad, PRT's showing at the Race for the Bear State Championships in Long Beach, the updated Racer Cup standings with Amelia Conkel surging to within two points of leader Gael Sosa, and the multisport team's results at Wildflower 70.3, Hawaii IM 70.3, and the Rock n Roll Marathon. Plus: Dzuyen Tran's volunteer month recap, the new Volunteer Incentive Program, the Road to Ruidoso training rides, Dan Mahaffey's membership challenge still waiting for submissions, and looking ahead to Junior and Masters Nationals and the San Diego International Triathlon on June 28.
