Spencer and Cameron are talking all about the new Silent Hill game of Townfall. The experimental spin off that takes the gameplay into a first-person style, with a light pseudo-VR feel, but sadly without actual VR implication. Still, it's an interesting game premise, with a great story, intriguing characters, and fantastic puzzles throughout. The game does drop the ball a bit on some of the combat and the annoying one hit kill creature of the "Weight." Which it really should be called the Wait, cause sure doesn't mind hanging out in the same spot for a good long while. So, prepare for a bit of that hide and sneak style gameplay, that I know can sometimes be the make or break for different folks. But at least that is only a couple sections of the game.

But at least the journey is still worth it, and it is an interesting test of changing up the combat heavy games of past Silent Hills. If you are a fan of the series or genre, you will most likely dig the majority of the game. We especially think that after how much SH F raised the bar on horror games in general, it's kind of hard to compete with that one you are trying something different. But the game is worth the ride still and only makes us more excited for what Konami is bringing out next.

So, come join us for the run through retrospective discussion, as we deep dive into the lore, gameplay mechanics, and give a retro review on our modern experience. Let us know your thoughts on the game, survival horror titles, and what we should play next. Though it is a bummer that this game isn't on Xbox and Switch 2. And since it's a PlayStation console exclusive it really should have been made for the VR 2. Just saying. That unit could use some more games now.

This time Wes and Spencer are talking about the Conan the Barbarian sequel of Destroyer! A film that changes tones but I believe still works out really fantastic but in a whole different way. If Barbarian was like the old books, Destroyer is more like the Marvel Comics version of the Adventurer. And in this new film, Arnold is joined by a party of all types of different skilled heroes. Like in a Dungeons and Dragons, or Diablo style adventure. There's a lot of good dark fantasy elements, excellent sets, and still a bunch of violent carnage, even if at times just a tad goofy.

This time, Wes and Spencer are talking about one of the all-time greatest classics, with Arnold Schwarzenegger's first big, huge film, Conan the Barbarian. John Millius brings the Robert E. Howard books to live in classic brutal style. With James Earl Jones as one of the best bad guys around. This film always holds up like no other. So come join us for the high adventures!

Spencer and Cameron are going back in time to 1999 and looking at what may be the ultimate survival horror game from the golden age but really, of just all time, with Resident Evil 3. The game is firing on every cylinder, with a fantastic story, tons of enemies, great puzzles, dialed in controls, top tier graphics of the PS1, and of course the big new baddie of Nemesis (Who may be the make or break part of how much one loves RE3). But everything here is just the top-notch pinnacle of classic survival horror at about its zenith.

And then if we are talking the original, the remake was bound to come up in conversation, so we just added em both together for our discussion. With the 2020 game coming off the heels of the RE2 Remake, the game that really started the horror gaming revival. The RE3 remake is fast paced, streamlined, yet still offers a lot of excellent moments while keeping the overall story intact and looking like classic Biohazard. Plus, it's one of the most replay able games out there to boot. Yeah, it is on the short time and could use a couple extra hours of story gameplay to fill in some missing areas like the clocktower and graveyard. Throw some extra puzzles in and the A/B decisions and it would have been pretty darn complete. But even still it's a hell of an experience and one of the best modern horror games still.

So, we discuss the experience of playing both simultaneously and the tradeoffs in each. Along with how this story really wraps up the original RE games in a perfect trilogy, that is that was all they wrote, the story comes to a solid conclusion. RE3 is a game that any horror fan and especially Resident fan needs to give the good college try to and the bonus is how easy it is to pick up both the original and remake. They practically give them away.

So, come join us for the run through retrospective discussion, as we deep dive into the lore, gameplay mechanics, and give a retro review on our modern experience. Let us know your thoughts on the game, survival horror titles, and what we should play next.

Spencer and Wes are going back to the Australian western classic, Quigley Down Under from 1990. Starring Tom Selleck, Laura San Giacomo, and Alan Rickman. Directed by Simon Wincer. The film is action packed, fun yet with some hard drama and emotional moments, filled with great history, and a great story to boot. Shows why this film has held a high regard for many of years.

This time Wes and Spencer are talking all about the 1986 film about Rutger Hauer as a bounty hunter taking down a terrorist Gene Simmons (of Kiss). Who doesn't want to check that movie out now? It's also kind of a sequel to the Steve McQueen show too of the same name.

Spencer and Wes are going back to the 90s for a rewind review of the classic Patrick Swayze, Randy Travis, and Meatloaf trucker action flick, Black Dog. A total classic in the vein of Roadhouse, Smokey and the Bandit, and Convoy. With over-the-top great action scenes and a story that almost takes off too fast. A somewhat lost in time picture that really might be the top 5 of Patrick Swayze films.

Spencer and Cameron are talking all about the survival horror indie game from 2022, Signalis. That I like to describe as, "a sci fi pulp horror story about lesbian androids in Space!!! Trapped in a nightmare and fused with German expressionist story and anime aesthetics." A story is still on the weird, wild, slightly confusing, but nonetheless intriguing. With a slightly isometric top-down view and all the creepy horror vibes you'd expect in a survival horror. Along with great puzzles, haunting enemies, and weapons to show em' all who's boss as we make our escape. Even if you could desperately use a couple more slots for your inventory.

The nice thing is that the game fuses what is best in survival horror while adding a lot of its own identity to make it feel fresh and not just a knock off homage. It's unique in the way of other great independent horror games of recent, like Conscript and Crow Country. It sometimes even feels like taking Enemy Zero, dialing it into the max and running with it as far as possible. And that's a cool thing.

The games just pure greatness, the story keeps you engaged even if there's a lot going on but it is more of that subconscious thinking type of experience. Where it really sticks with you even after you have completed a run. The graphics are awesome too and it sometimes even has this FMV, Sega CD like environments you go through too.

So, come join us for the run through retrospective discussion, as we deep dive into the lore, gameplay mechanics, and give a retro review on our modern experience. Let us know your thoughts on the game, survival horror titles, and what we should play next.
