  • 373: The Challenge of Raising Present Kids in a Digital Age
    Sep 28 2026

In Episode 373 of the Old Souls & Seekers Podcast, Guy and Ilan Ferdman explore the tension between modern technology and the simple human experiences that can easily get lost in today's world. They reflect on the Jewish High Holy Days, forgiveness, gratitude, and being present, before discussing loneliness, aloneness, silence, and how technology can distract us from ourselves and the people around us. They also share their concerns about children's increasing screen time and the importance of creating space for connection, creativity, and real-world experiences.

The conversation expands into parenting, education, food, the future of work, and artificial intelligence. Guy and Ilan discuss alternative approaches to raising and educating children, the importance of teaching life skills and critical thinking, and how technological change may affect employment and our sense of purpose. They also explore AI, consciousness, and Guy's personal experiences using AI as a tool for reflection, ultimately raising deeper questions about how we can use technology while remaining connected to ourselves, our relationships, and what it means to be human.

  • 374: The Book Ilan's Been Avoiding for 8 Years
    Oct 5 2026

Eight years ago a coach told Ilan to write the book. He still hasn't. This episode is about what finally cracks that open, and why it's happening now, in the middle of the strangest technological moment any of us have lived through.

Guy and Ilan talk about the feeling that things are suddenly lining up, AI-generated content going viral while few people notice it isn't human, and how Dan Brown's 2017 novel Origin already reads like a documentary. They get practical too: using AI as a daily self-reflection partner, building things just by talking, and the question every parent is asking right now, whether college still makes sense.

Underneath it all: a forest has to collapse before it regrows, AI may give local communities real self-sufficiency, and the one constant through every version of the future is spirituality.

    "The only certainty is uncertainty."

  • 375: 40 Hours a Week, Groundhog Day at Home with Andrew O'Brien of Dad Tribes
    Oct 12 2026

Most dads work 40 to 80 hours a week and come home to a version of Groundhog Day: present in the room, absent in the moment. Andrew O'Brien, founder of Dad Tribes, a free, app-powered community for fathers now in 20 countries, joins Guy and Ilan Ferdman to talk about what it takes to lead yourself before you lead a family.

We get into why kids absorb the nervous system of the home instead of the words you say, the grief hiding inside the "both parents working" model, how Andrew thinks about 30-day challenges and lasting change, and how his own upbringing shaped the man and the mission. Plus: how meditation lands for high-energy "tough guy" men who think stillness isn't for them.

"You can't lead men if you're not leading yourself." Andrew O'Brien
