Learn Japanese with Michael Allen CPA and Michelle MaliZaki on Nihongo to English, and celebrate with us! It's our one-year anniversary (一年記念), with 37 episodes and 2,500 downloads so far. This episode's Genki lesson covers how to say where things are, using koko, soko and asoko plus the location words mae (in front of), tonari (next to), ue (on top of), shita (under) and aida (between). We also learn the past tense of desu: deshita and janakatta desu. Along the way we take a ramen road trip to a bowl piled with a mountain of chashu, explain the "hashi-nashi / hashi-ari" chopstick game, talk about eating gluten-free in Japan, and compare "hair of the dog" with a Japanese pun about going back for more dessert.
