The first week of Maine’s 2026 moose season is in the books, and we’re breaking it ALL down!

Rob Fickett sits down with teammates Cody McDonald and Nathan Theriault to recap the highs, the lows, the close calls, and everything we learned chasing bulls in the woods of northern Maine. We talk about what the moose were doing, how the week unfolded, what worked, what didn’t, and the moments that made this season one to remember.

But we’re not done yet.

With the second week of moose season coming up in October, we’re looking ahead at what we expect, what we’ve learned from week one, and how we’re preparing to get back after it.

Every week in the moose woods teaches you something. Sometimes it goes according to plan. Sometimes it doesn’t. Either way, you keep grinding.

Fresh off a successful few days in the Maine woods and a hunt that ended with a giant black bear on the ground, Rob Fickett and teammate Nathan Theriault sit down with the Whitaker Brothers to talk all things hounds.

From their beginnings as young hunters fascinated by dogs, to becoming dedicated houndsmen pursuing bears and mountain lions across North America, the Whitakers share the stories, lessons, and experiences that shaped their passion for the sport.

We dive into what it takes to build a successful pack of hounds, the challenges of hunting bears in the thick Maine woods, and the incredible adventures they've had chasing mountain lions and bears in the rugged country out West. The conversation also explores why hunting Maine is unlike anywhere else, the traditions that make it special, and the deep connection between houndsmen, their dogs, and the wild places they hunt.

Whether you're a houndsman, bear hunter, or simply someone who appreciates the heritage and grit of the outdoors, this episode is packed with stories, insight, and a look into a style of hunting few people truly understand.
