High school athletics are serious business for students looking to have a career in sports. But one Utah lawmaker says there's a transfer portal atmosphere in high school sports, and he's trying to close some loopholes. State Representative Jon Hawkins' bill would have redefined the restrictions placed on transfers, and stopped high school athletes from getting paid to play. But the pushback against the bill turned out to be too much.

Less than a year after announcing his diagnoses with ALS, actor Eric Dane passed away last night from the disorder. His passing has once again brought the progressive neurodegenerative disease back into the national spotlight.

In this Deep Dive, Maria Shilaos discusses the disease -- what it is, how it affects the body, life expectany, and more -- and the way to support those who have ALS and their families. She's joined by Dr. Mark Bromberg, the former director of the ALS Clinic at U of U Health and Brian Federick, Marketing and Communications Officer for The ALS Association.

President Trump isn't too happy with a decision from the United States Supreme Court today that struck down the sweeping tariffs imposed by the President last year. By a vote of 6 to 3, the justices ruled that President Trump's use of a national emergencies act to impose flat tariffs was not constitutional. After the ruling, he held a news conference in which he told the American people he was absolutely ashamed of the Supreme Court justices who ruled against him. The President went on to say he would sign several orders seeking to restore tariffs under a variety of other authorities, including a set of trade powers known as Section 122. He said he would use that section to impose an across-the-board global 10% tariff.

What exactly did the Supreme Court's order say, and how does it limit what the President can do? And if the tariffs really do go away, how would that affect consumer prices? Several former members of the Salt Lake County Republican Party say they are now filing a lawsuit in response to their removal. They say the discipline they received from party leadership was direct retaliation for complaints they lodged against the party.

In this Deep Dive, guest host Heather Peterson gets a breakdown of the situation from Inside Sources co-host Dr. Holly Richardson, who says it's a nuanced problem, but one she finds interesting because of the discipline involved. Two of the members disciplined in the process (Kaye Sanderson and Tracie Halvorsen) also speak out, sharing their reaction to the situation. Finally, county party chair Mike Carey joins Heather Peterson and Midday Executive Producer Andy Cupp to share more insights into the disciplinary process and why several members of the party faced that same discipline.
