    Oct 8 2026

    Send us Fan Mail

Caroline dresses like a prisoner because, as her grandfather used to say, after 50 years of marriage, "murderers get out earlier."

Eva brings John Gottman's The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work, and we get into the Love Lab, the 5-to-1 rule, the Four Horsemen, the Roach Motel, the mental load, and "just bring socks," why the marriage has to come before the kids, and what happened when we asked Claude for marriage advice.

Plus Book, Meme, and Word of the Week: LARPing.

  • On Politics, 'Oops' Moments, and the Surplus Elite
    Oct 1 2026

    Send us Fan Mail

Eva and Caroline go all in on American politics this week — a full hour tracing how the Democratic and Republican parties got to where they are today, from the Clinton and Reagan eras through to now. They get personal about their own political journeys, including a confession about a 2016 vote that wasn't exactly popular among friends at the time, and what actually changed after October 7th. The conversation moves through antisemitism and why it's a warning sign worth everyone's attention, the "surplus elite" theory of why so many overeducated, high-achieving people are drawn toward the far left, the role social media plays in deepening our echo chambers, and a candid, personal take on losing friendships over who voted for whom.

    In this episode:

    • The Democratic Party's shift from Clinton-era centrism to today's progressive wing
    • The Republican Party's shift from Reagan-era conservatism to Trump-era populism
    • Our own political journeys, and what changed our minds along the way
    • Why antisemitism matters as a bellwether for everyone, not just Jewish people
    • The "surplus elite" theory and why it's resonating right now
    • How social media echo chambers are reshaping how people vote
    • A real conversation about losing friends over politics
    • What each party actually stands for today, broken down plainly
    • Why voting locally matters more than people think

  • Stop Doing Everything Yourself, with Alison Fragale
    Sep 24 2026

    Send us Fan Mail

Organizational psychologist Alison Fragale (author of Likable Badass) explains why hiring help is essential for your sanity, not a luxury. She breaks down how she outsources childcare, cleaning, and errands without the guilt, why she hires a "third parent" instead of a nanny, and how to give feedback to the people who help you.

    In this episode:

    • Why you should always go first in a negotiation (the $300 couch)
    • Why going "in the red" on childcare can be an investment
    • The market reframe: you're not exploiting anyone by hiring help
    • How to hire a "third parent" and give feedback to people who work in your home
    • Why 80% done by someone else is a win
    • Why to keep a bench of five sitters, and overpay them
    • Why earning your own income doesn't end the "why do we need this?" argument, and what it does change

  • College Drop Off: You've Forever Lost Your Baby Living Under Your Roof
    Sep 17 2026

    Send us Fan Mail

This week Caroline is still getting the hang of driving in Miami, which somehow opens into the real subject of the episode: a week full of milestones. Caroline's son Teddy turned 10 — double digits, closer to college than to the day he was born — and Eva just finished dropping her second son off at college. Eva and Caroline talk through why the second college goodbye is harder than the first, the pressure to perform a "perfect dorm room" online, and a reframe from Claude that changed how Caroline thinks about mom guilt: being present isn't a character trait; it's a battery, and nobody runs on full all the time. Along the way: a very good Uber story, a case for "benign neglect," and why Miami parenting anxiety looks nothing like New York City parenting anxiety.

Eva's book of the week is Culpability, by Bruce Holsinger, about who's responsible when a self-driving car crashes with a teenager behind the wheel, and her new favorite phrase is "slowmaxxing" — the art of a slow, unhurried morning.

    Chapters:

  • The Art of Jewish Joy (with Amanda Kingloff)
    Sep 10 2026

This week we're joined by Amanda Kingloff — craft stylist, former Lifestyle Director at Parents magazine, founder of ProjectKid, and author of the new book The Art of Jewish Joy: Crafts and Activities for Celebration and Connection (Chronicle Books), co-written with Suzy Ultman.

We talk about why grown-ups forget how to play, what it means to "unlearn" the conventional use of a bottle cap, and how Amanda went from a pre-med, photography-major mindset to building a career out of arts and crafts. Then we get into the real heart of it: how October 7th sent Amanda back into her own Jewish identity, why she and her husband quietly walked away from synagogue-based Judaism as adults, and how she and Suzy built a book that renames every holiday chapter after the value inside it — the Art of Self-Reflection (Rosh Hashanah/Yom Kippur), the Art of Shining Bright (Hanukkah), the Art of Honoring Freedom (Passover), the Art of Grit and Grace (Purim).

Also covered: the Sukkot tradition of leaving the corners of a field unharvested for the poor, why you cover the challah before kiddush, Amanda's daughter's snow-globe Halloween costume, and Eva's new favorite phrase, "achievement cheap."

  • Remembering Hayden Panettiere, and Is Miami the 6th Borough of NYC?
    Sep 3 2026

    Send us Fan Mail

This week, Eva and Caroline debut a brand new format — split screen, Eva in New York, Caroline two weeks into her move to Miami — and cover a lot of ground.

They talk about Hayden Panettiere's sudden death, which sent Eva down a Nashville rewatch and into a bigger conversation about what fame does to child stars.

Caroline breaks down her new commute, her "sixth borough" theory of South Florida, and an airport observation that turns into a real debate about immigration and the economy.

They also get into current events, whether Jeremy is allowed to own more than one backpack, and what it actually means to be a "true New Yorker" once you've left.
