The world loves to define it for us—money, titles, perfection, never stumbling. But real life tells a different story, and so do I. As someone who has walked through the fires of domestic violence, survived the dark valley of a suicide attempt, and made mistakes I thought I’d never recover from, I’ve learned that true success isn’t about how the world sees you—it’s about how you rise after you fall. This week, I’m inviting you to rethink what winning means: to embrace your journey, failures and all, and to customize a vision of achievement that’s true to your soul. This is the season to define your win and give yourself permission to celebrate it.Every week, we recite our foundation for 2026 F.O.C.U.S. FRAMEWORK:Faith First: Trusting God’s purpose as the guiding star.Organize Your Priorities: Centering what matters most.Commit to Growth: Embracing learning and spiritual maturity.Uplift Others: Lifting your community as you rise.Stay the Course: Persevering through every challenge. When we hear the word “success,” it’s easy to picture awards, fame, or status. But for many of us, true success is born from the ashes of our most painful failures. I’ve had my own re-defining moments—not just as an author and leader, but as a survivor of domestic violence, a survivor of attempted suicide, and as someone who has made countless mistakes on this journey called life. Each setback forced me to confront the question: What does real success mean to me now?3 Key Points: Customizing Your Own Vision of Achievement1. Define Success for Yourself—Not for Others It’s easy to chase someone else’s idea of winning. But your life’s victories might look different—and should feel personal. After my darkest moments, I learned that true success meant reclaiming my voice, forgiving myself, and pursuing my God-given purpose. Scripture reminds us, “For I know the plans I have for you…plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11, NIV). Success starts with embracing your unique journey.2. Real Success is Growth, Not Perfection Our mistakes and wounds don’t disqualify us from winning—they refine us. The world may keep score in dollars and followers, but real achievement is measured by growth: healing from old hurts, making better choices, and refusing to let yesterday’s pain rule today. “Though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again.” (Proverbs 24:16, NIV). Get up—again and again—because each time you rise is a victory.3. Celebrate Progress, Not Just Outcomes Success isn’t just about reaching a far-off goal, but about honoring every step forward—especially when nobody else sees it. Celebrate the days you showed up for yourself, even when battling old demons. Paul reminds us, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9, NIV). Consistent small wins pave the way for big breakthroughs.3 Ways to Keep Going When Life Knocks You Down1. Lean Into Your Faith & Community When the weight of your challenges feels overwhelming, remember you don’t have to shoulder it alone. Turn to your faith—pray, meditate, and immerse yourself in uplifting scripture for strength and perspective. Just as important, reach out to those who care: family, trusted friends, mentors, or supportive groups. Their encouragement, wisdom, and prayers can lift your spirit and remind you that you’re surrounded by love. “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” (Ecclesiastes 4:12, NIV) Example: Imagine you’re facing a painful...
