  • The Good Was Still Good

This week on Kinda Preachy, we're covering everything from bathtub photography (it's not what you think) to bridal showers, Kentucky football celebrations, and couch burning. Because apparently, in the Bluegrass State, that's just another way to say congratulations.

But somewhere between the questionable photography and celebratory arson, we get to the heart of something much bigger.

Kacie shares how humbling herself to ask for feedback about a potential opportunity led to an unexpected moment of encouragement and healing. She was prepared for rejection, but God had something entirely different waiting for her.

Sometimes we think we've made peace with a painful chapter, only to discover we've been carrying around a version of the story shaped more by its ending than everything that happened along the way. And sometimes God uses one ordinary conversation to remind us that the good was still good, the investment still mattered, and a difficult ending doesn't get to erase the value of what came before it.

God doesn't waste our experiences, even when disappointment makes us question their worth.

And because we can only stay serious for so long, we wrap things up with a highly unscientific investigation into whether Steph has developed adult ADHD. Our qualifications? Absolutely none. Our confidence? Surprisingly high.

It's faith, friendship, unexpected healing, and a little oversharing.

  • More Precious Than Rubies, Less Petty Than the Internet

The internet has made being petty practically a competitive sport, and this week we’re wondering when tearing people down became our favorite way to connect.

We’re talking influencer culture, the weird trend of wives publicly disparaging their husbands, and the pressure to “match someone’s energy” in the name of empathy. Because supporting a friend who is frustrated with her marriage probably shouldn’t require us to offer up our own husbands as collateral damage.

Naturally, this takes us straight to Taylor Swift and the internet’s inability to simply let the woman be happy. Our official position: let Taylor enjoy her new hubby. If you’re personally still in your revenge era, Reputation remains available for streaming.

Then we head back into middle school drama, where a conversation about being more precious than rubies brought some unexpected tears and a reminder we probably needed just as much as the middle schooler did. Relationships tumble us. They refine us. They smooth some edges and expose others. And apparently that process doesn’t end when you survive middle school. Who knew?

We wrap things up with a little life chatter and the horrifying realization that becoming a video podcast means we have unintentionally put our feet on the internet.

More precious than rubies. Hopefully less petty than the internet. Still being refined.

Faith, friendship, and a little oversharing. This is Kinda Preachy.

  • Turns Out, I Needed My Middle Schooler’s Advice More Than She Did

We spend a lot of time teaching our kids how to survive hurt feelings, complicated friendships and middle school drama. Don’t assume the worst. Don’t let someone else’s behavior change who you are. Give people grace. Tell the truth. Forgive. Stay kind.

And then Steph had an uncomfortable realization: maybe she needs to start taking some of her own advice.

This week, we’re talking about how life experience can make us wiser, but if we aren’t careful, it can also make us harder. We get hurt and suddenly we’re in full investigation mode, replaying conversations, gathering evidence and building a case when what we really need might be forgiveness.

So how do we pursue truth without becoming consumed by proving our version of it? How do we have boundaries without bitterness? How do we recognize hard realities and still keep soft hearts?

Plus, please disregard all our talk about video this week. Because naturally, the very week we talked about it, we had technical difficulties.
