Opening statements are done and the federal trial of former Stoughton police officer Matthew Farwell is underway. He’s charged with strangling 23-year-old Sandra Birchmore and staging her death as a suicide. Let’s walk through the opening statements and see the prosecution's case that Farwell groomed Birchmore from the time she was 15. Then he killed her to protect his career and his public life. His defense team claims Birchmore took her own life after he broke up with her. The first bit of courtroom testimony will grab you if you’re already not watching this trial unfold.
