The Cryptoqueen has disappeared. On October 25th, 2017, Ruja Ignatova flew from Sofia to Athens. Since then, investigators have never publicly established where she went. But OneCoin didn't disappear with her. In Episode Two of Apex Crime Vault, we continue the story of Ruja Ignatova and the massive OneCoin investigation. After her disappearance, the company's marketing machine continued operating. Her brother, Konstantin Ignatov, stepped into a more visible leadership role before being arrested in 2019 and later cooperating with investigators. Meanwhile, the legal consequences surrounding OneCoin continued to unfold. Mark Scott was convicted in the United States and later sentenced to ten years in federal prison. OneCoin co-founder Karl Sebastian Greenwood was arrested in Thailand, extradited to the United States, pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to twenty years in prison. Then, on June 30th, 2022, the FBI added Ruja Ignatova to its Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list. A reward for information leading to her arrest and conviction was eventually raised to as much as five million dollars. But she has never been found. In 2026, the case took another turn when the U.S. Department of Justice announced a formal remission process involving more than forty million dollars in forfeited assets for qualifying OneCoin victims. The money trail is still being investigated. The search for Ruja Ignatova is still active. And the question that has followed this case since 2017 remains: Where is the Cryptoqueen?
