• The Gospel Begins with a Diagnosis | Romans 1:18-32
    Feb 22 2026

In this week's message, Pastor Lawrence digs into Romans 1:18-32 to show us that the best news ever actually starts with some bad news. God — the Great Physician — has given us a clear diagnosis: our world is sick, and we are the cause. But understanding what's wrong is the first step to receiving what's right.

This episode explores the wrath of God (and why it's actually a sign of His goodness), two forms of truth suppression, what it means when "God gave them up," and why the gospel is truly good news for every kind of sinner — regardless of background, struggle, or story.

  • ONE THING: Pressing Forward Into Freedom
    Feb 8 2026

What's preventing you from becoming everything God created you to be? This week's message challenges us to identify the ONE THING we need to let go of in order to press forward into the life Christ has for us.

The Apostle Paul, despite his impressive religious credentials and painful past experiences, made a powerful declaration: "One thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining toward what lies ahead." This isn't about erasing our memories—it's about refusing to let our past define our future.

In this compelling message, you'll discover:

    • Why unforgiveness hurts you more than the person you won't forgive
    • The crucial difference between experiencing failure and being a failure
    • How Louis Zamperini's encounter with Christ transformed vengeance into radical forgiveness
    • The two essential movements required for spiritual progress
    • Why pressing forward looks more like surrender than conquest

    Key Scriptures Referenced: Philippians 3:2, 3:7-11, 3:13-14 | Mark 10:21 | Luke 10:41 | John 9:25 | Psalm 27:4

    Next Steps:

    1. Identify the ONE THING from your past that's holding you back
    2. Make the decision today to release it through forgiveness and surrender
    3. Share your story of breakthrough with someone who needs hope
    4. Join us next weekend as we begin a new series

Is God calling you to let go of something today? Unforgiveness? Past failures? Fear of the unknown? In one bold stroke, forgiveness obliterates the past and permits us to enter the land of new beginnings. What are you willing to release to claim the freedom Jesus died to give you?

  • One Thing I Ask: Finding Home in God's Presence
    Feb 1 2026

What's the one gift you'd ask for above all others? In Psalm 27, King David reveals his ultimate request—and it changes everything.

Surrounded by enemies, facing betrayal, and dealing with impossible circumstances, David could have asked God for safety, victory, or vindication. Instead, he asked for the one thing that transcends all of life's chaos: God's presence.

In this episode of Weekend Messages at Grand Point Church, Pastor Doug Benedict unpacks Psalm 27 and challenges us to examine our own hearts: How much do we truly desire God's presence? Have we made our home in Him, or are we too busy "working the fields" of Christian service?

    In This Episode:

    • David's profound "one thing" request in the midst of crisis
    • Why the presence of God is the safest space for the human soul
    • The three key actions of dwelling: Dwell, Gaze, and Seek
    • Recovering "holy attention" in our distracted world
    • How David asked for presence, but God gave something better—a Person
    • The invitation to "come home" to Jesus, wherever you are in your journey
    • Practical steps to make your home in God as He makes His home in you

Key Scripture: Psalm 27 (full chapter)

Big Idea: We find our home with God, when He makes His home in us!

    Featured Quote:
"The presence of Jesus is the safest space for your soul. So, DWELL in Him, Church… Come Home."

  • ONE THING: I KNOW — From Blindness to Sight
    Jan 25 2026

"One thing I do know, that though I was blind, now I see."

What do you really KNOW about Jesus? In this compelling exploration of John 9, we discover three profound journeys that reveal what it means to truly "see" Christ.

Join us as we examine the healing of a man born blind and uncover how three different groups responded to the same miracle—some moving from blindness to sight, others tragically moving from sight to blindness.

    In This Episode:

THE DISCIPLES' PERSPECTIVE: Discover why we must become blind to our religious formulas before we can see God's compassionate purposes. Learn how theological systems can actually blind us to the people right in front of us.

THE BLIND MAN'S TESTIMONY: Experience the transformative power of simple, personal testimony. His journey from physical blindness to spiritual sight—and ultimately to worship—shows us that personal experience of Jesus matters more than perfect theology.

THE PHARISEES' WARNING: Understand the greatest danger facing believers today—being so confident we "see" that we become spiritually blind. Their tragic descent reveals warning signs we all need to recognize.

    Key Scriptures Explored:

    • John 9:2-3 — Moving beyond formulas
    • John 9:25 — "One thing I do know"
    • John 9:39-41 — Sight to blindness

    Application Questions:

    1. What's your "one thing I know" testimony about Jesus?
    2. Where might you be like the disciples—blind to God's work because you're focused on theological formulas?
    3. Where might you be like the Pharisees—so confident you "see" that you're actually becoming blind?
    4. What would it cost you to testify like the blind man did?

    Next Steps:

    • Identify your personal "one thing I know" testimony
    • Examine areas where religious confidence might be causing spiritual blindness
    • Practice compassion over theological commentary
    • Share your testimony with someone this week

  • Compassion Weekend: From Feeling to Faith-Filled Action
    Jan 18 2026

What's the difference between feeling sorry for someone and showing true biblical compassion? This weekend, Pastor Lawrence unpacks the profound meaning of compassion in Scripture and challenges us to move beyond sympathy into life-changing action.

Drawing from the story of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10, we discover that compassion isn't just an emotion—it's a call to get physically involved, to risk our comfort, and to invest our resources in the lives of others. With over 2,000 verses in the Bible addressing care for the poor and vulnerable, this message reminds us that compassion is absolutely central to our faith.

    Key Highlights:

    • The Greek word for compassion means "to be moved to one's bowels"—your very core
    • The Good Samaritan shows us what hands-on compassion looks like
    • Why removing poverty-focused verses would make your Bible fall apart
    • How 2.2 billion Christians worldwide can unite to fight poverty
    • The power of child sponsorship to transform lives and bridge the global divide

    Featured Scriptures:

    • Luke 10:25-37 | The Good Samaritan
    • Matthew 9:35-38 | Jesus' Compassion on the Crowds
    • Matthew 25:40 | Whatever You Did for the Least of These
    • James 2:18 | Show Me Your Faith by Your Deeds
    • 1 Corinthians 12:4-14 | Many Parts, One Body

  • ONE THING: What's Standing Between You and Eternal Life?
    Jan 11 2026

What if you were doing everything right—following all the rules, living a good life—and Jesus looked at you with love and said, "You lack ONE THING"?

In this powerful weekend message, Pastor Lawrence explores one of the most challenging encounters in Scripture: the rich young ruler who asked Jesus about eternal life but couldn't release his possessions to follow Him.

This teaching from Mark 10:17-23 asks us to examine what we're holding onto that keeps us from fully following Jesus. The rich young ruler had wealth, youth, power, and religious devotion—everything the world values. He came to Jesus with the ultimate question: "What must I do to inherit eternal life?"

Jesus' response was both loving and challenging: "You lack ONE THING: go, sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me." The man went away sorrowful because he had great possessions.

    In This Episode, You'll Discover:

    • The profound question at the heart of life: "Do you want to be something or do you want to do something?"
    • Why keeping all the commandments wasn't enough for the rich young ruler
    • How Jesus looked at this man with genuine love before giving him the invitation of a lifetime
    • The principle that you can't shop horizontally for what can only be found vertically
    • Why any invitation into deeper relationship with God almost always involves a choice
    • How to identify and release the idols that grip your heart
    • Jesus' promise for those who leave everything to follow Him

    Key Scripture: Mark 10:17-23

    Questions to Reflect On:

    1. What's your ONE THING—what stands between you and deeper relationship with Jesus?
    2. Are you trusting in earthly possessions or in God for your security?
    3. How much do you want more of Jesus?
    4. What idols grip your heart that need to be released?

    Next Steps:

    • Identify what idols grip your heart and cut off their supply
    • Invest your resources—time, money, abilities—in lasting kingdom purposes
    • Say "yes" to Jesus' Presence, whatever it costs
    • Pray: "Jesus, I never want to make the same choice that the rich young ruler made—at any level of my life. I do say 'yes' to your Presence and always want to go deeper, whatever it costs."

Coming Next Week: Hear Jonathan's powerful testimony about how Compassion International transformed his life from victim of global poverty to kingdom minister. Don't miss this inspiring story of investment and multiplication in God's kingdom.
