• The Sovereign God and His Unlikely Instruments — Judges 4:1–9
    Oct 21 2026

What happens when God's people are unfaithful, and their leaders hesitate to obey His commands? **Judges 4:1–9** reminds us that the Lord remains sovereign over His people and His purposes—even when human faith is weak.

In this sermon, we examine God's call to Barak through Deborah and consider what this passage teaches us about **the sovereignty of God, human weakness, faith, obedience, and the Lord's power to deliver His people**.

Israel had once again turned away from the Lord, and God raised up Deborah to deliver His command to Barak. Yet Barak hesitated, insisting that Deborah accompany him. His response raises important questions about trusting God's Word, obeying His calling, and relying on the Lord rather than our own strength.

God's purposes do not depend on the strength or courage of men. He accomplishes His will through the instruments He chooses, demonstrating that the glory for deliverance belongs to Him alone.

📖 **In this sermon, we consider:**

    - Israel's repeated rebellion against God

    - God's sovereignty over His people and their circumstances

    - Deborah's role as a prophetess and judge in Israel

    - Barak's response to God's command

    - The relationship between faith, fear, and obedience

    - God's use of unexpected instruments to accomplish His purposes

    - The certainty of God's promises despite human weakness

    - What Judges 4:1–9 teaches us about trusting and obeying the Lord

If you are studying the **Book of Judges** or seeking biblical teaching on God's sovereignty, Reformed theology, faith and obedience, biblical leadership, and the faithfulness of God, we pray this sermon will encourage you to trust the Lord and submit to His Word.

  • Fasting, Prayer, & the Faithfulness of God - Ezra 8:21-23
    Sep 30 2026

What does it mean to trust God when the outcome is uncertain? In **Ezra 8:21–23**, Ezra calls God's people to fast and seek the Lord, trusting Him to provide protection and guidance.

In this sermon, **“Fasting, Prayer, & the Faithfulness of God,”** we examine what this passage teaches us about dependence upon God, the purpose of fasting, the power of prayer, and the faithfulness of the Lord toward His people.

Ezra and the Israelites were facing a journey that required them to depend upon God rather than their own strength or resources. Their response was to humble themselves, fast, and seek the Lord. Their example reminds us that prayer is not merely a religious exercise—it is an expression of genuine dependence upon a faithful God.

📖 **In this sermon, we consider:**

    • The biblical purpose of fasting

    • Why God's people should seek Him in prayer

    • Trusting God when circumstances are uncertain

    • Humility and dependence upon the Lord

    • God's faithfulness to His covenant people

    • The relationship between prayer and faith

    • What Ezra 8:21–23 teaches us about trusting God

    • How Christians can cultivate greater dependence upon the Lord

If you are studying **Ezra 8**, or looking for biblical teaching on **fasting, prayer, trusting God, God's faithfulness, Christian dependence, biblical spirituality, faith, and Reformed theology**, we pray this sermon will encourage you to seek the Lord and trust Him in every circumstance.

  • Apostasy and Amazing Grace - Judges 3:7-11
    Sep 15 2026

Israel forgot the Lord, served Baals and Asheroth, and fell under oppression. Then God raised a deliverer. Judges 3:7–11 begins the cycle that runs through the book: apostasy, judgment, crying out, and amazing grace. The first judge, Othniel, shows that the true Hero is the Lord Himself. Idolatry is not only bowing to another god—it is putting anything above God. This message traces that pattern and points to the grace that still rescues His people.Want clear Reformed preaching through Judges and the rest of Scripture?
