The Bible says that if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; the new has come. But even after receiving Jesus, it's possible to continue thinking about ourselves according to our past, our failures, our feelings, and the person we used to be.

That's why we need to renew our minds.

You are more than your mistakes.

You are more than what other people have called you.

And you are more than what your circumstances may be telling you today.

Your identity is found in Jesus Christ.

In Christ, you are a new creation. You are forgiven. You are redeemed. You are accepted. You are loved. You are a child of God—and you have been given a completely new identity.

Romans 12:2 tells us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. As God's Word changes the way we think, it begins changing the way we see ourselves, our circumstances, and the life God has called us to live.

Maybe the question isn't, “Who am I trying to become?”

Maybe the better question is:

“Who has Jesus already made me?”
