• Surviving a Terrorist Bombing: PTSD, Identity Loss, and Learning to Live Again | Christiane Scarpino
    Feb 2 2026

Trigger Warning: This episode includes discussion of a terrorist bombing, long-term PTSD, survivor’s guilt, trauma symptoms, and emotional distress.

In a world that often favors positivity over authenticity, discussing trauma can feel like a taboo. In the latest episode of the podcast "Fine, I'll Talk About It," host Danielle Young and guest Christy Scarpeano delve into the complex layers of healing from PTSD, exploring the impact of trauma and the challenges of navigating toxic positivity. Christy's personal journey sheds light on the often unseen struggles faced by those dealing with the aftermath of tragedy.

    About Our Guest

Christi Scarpino is a licensed Speech Language Pathologist and retired massage therapist who now devotes her life to raising awareness about post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). In 1977, she survived a terrorist bombing of the Mobil Oil Corporation Employment office when she was 21 years old. After the bombing, she faced three years of FBI and NYPD interrogations and testified in a federal murder trial against a terrorist. As a result, she developed Post Traumatic Stress syndrome during a time in which the diagnosis was not recognized and community mental health services were sparse.
