    The Danish royal family has a story that feels straight out of a movie.During the Sydney Olympics, King Frederik met Mary, an Australian woman with no royal background, in a bar—and their chance encounter eventually led to marriage.

    Queen Mary devoted herself to learning Danish and embracing the culture, earning deep respect and affection from the Danish people.Her journey is not just about becoming a queen, but about becoming part of Denmark itself.

    日本とデンマークには共通点もあります。
    どちらの国も早期退位によって、新しい天皇、新しい王へと穏やかに継承が行われました。


    昨年即位したフレデリック王は、新年のスピーチでまるで友人のように国民に語りかけ、大きな共感を呼びました。

    Japan and Denmark share an important tradition:
    both nations pass the throne through early abdication, allowing a smooth and thoughtful transition to a new Emperor and a new King.

    After ascending the throne last year, King Frederik delivered a New Year’s speech that felt warm and personal—speaking to citizens as if they were friends.
    It already makes us look forward to his 2026 New Year’s address.
