It’s a mammoth-sized flop that was so incomprehensible, not even the dino-craze of 1993, or STEVEN SPIELBERG’S name on the poster, could save it from extinction.

With a star-studded cast that includes John Goodman, Jay Leno, Rhea Perlman, Martin Short, Walter Cronkite, Julia Child, and Lisa Simpson… I mean, Yeardley Smith… how could kids say no?!?!

Travel back in time, then forward in time to the middle future, as Justin and Steve dig deeper than ever to excavate as much information as they can find about what should have been a box office layup, but ended up a total whiff.

This week, Justin and Steve take a trip to the underworld to talk about one of their all-time favorite DISASTERPIECES: Empire of the Dark. It’s a rip-roaring, demon-slaying, hellhound-filled ’80s action movie starring a guy who looks like the physical incarnation of the city of Chicago.

The boys do their best to unlock the mystery of writer, director, and leading man Steve Barkett, whose all-too-short career includes only two directing credits.

The facts might be hard to dig up, but who cares when there is SO MUCH to discuss about the film itself, including some of the most creative miniatures ever to grace the podcast.

The only disappointment is that Barkett never made another movie after Empire of the Dark. HAIL STEVE.

Justin and Steve take their first real look at a reality TV DISASTERPIECE by heading down to Kid Nation, a show where kids are forced to build their own society from scratch.

To make things even more dangerous, they have to do it in an abandoned Old West town. Between real natural hazards, filthy conditions, and feats of strength that would make even the most seasoned Survivor alumni sweat, the boys are left flabbergasted by the amount of real peril these 8-15-year-olds are put through, and charmed by the resilience of these tiny townfolk.

Derek Savage's Cool Cat Saves the Kids is almost impossible to explain. On the surface, it’s a feature-length kids’ movie starring a talking cat who helps his friends deal with bullies. But underneath is something much more sinister and corrupt that has Steve and Justin convinced that Cool Cat might actually be a harbinger of doom, here to signal the end of times (or maybe he’s just a weird guy in a suit).

The boys come close to insanity as they peel back the never-ending layers of Derek Savage and all of his creations. And just when it couldn’t get any weirder, they uncover his pro-Trump underground rap career.

This is a wild one, folks—maybe the wildest DISASTERPIECE has ever covered.

By this point, you know that Cop Rock is a gritty police TV show that is also, somehow, a musical.

And if you knew about Cop Rock before listening to this podcast, it’s probably because of this week’s episode, “A Three Corpse Meal,” and not because of the insane title.

Steve and Justin are finally talking about—and singing along with—“The Baby Merchant (Tots-Я-Us).” It’s one of the weirdest episodes yet, dropping the hardcore, real-life police drama in favor of side plots about diets, the illegal baby trade, and two senior citizens going on a date.

Chuck Norris is gone. But in his wake, he left behind countless roundhouse kicks, thousands of bad jokes, the best Conan O’Brien bit of all time, and a handful of bad-to-okay movies.

There is no better way for Justin and Steve to talk about the highly problematic man who should have just stayed a meme than by partnering up and investigating the scene (obviously without a warrant).

1995’s Top Dog is a kids’ movie (?) that covers all the major issues children in San Diego had to face in the ’90s—just kidding, it’s actually about white supremacy and hate crimes.

It’s an absolute mishmash of tones and genres, set in a world where a dog-cop can understand English and rack up 115 arrests, while also dealing with the rise of domestic terrorism.

The boys had very different experiences watching Top Dog, but they can both agree that it’s probably best that, after this, Chuck Norris’s big-screen career was sent to a farm upstate forever.
