Fred Staab and Les Jackson also reveal which cars, trucks, SUVs and hybrids have the best chance of reaching 250,000 miles. Toyota and Lexus dominate the new longevity study—but several surprising vehicles also make the list.

Plus, are sedans making a comeback? Sales are climbing for the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata, Kia K5, Volkswagen Jetta and Mazda3 as buyers search for affordable, fuel-efficient alternatives to expensive SUVs.

  • Ford’s BIG Plans: 4-Door Mustang + Bronco Pickup! | Corvette Grand Sport X & More
    Sep 8 2026

    #FordMustang #FordBronco #automotivenews

Ford may be preparing two HUGE additions to its lineup: a four-door Mustang and a Ford Bronco pickup aimed directly at the Jeep Gladiator. We break down what Ford dealers are reportedly being shown and what these new models could mean for Mustang, Bronco and Ford’s future lineup.

Plus, Chevrolet’s new 721-horsepower Corvette Grand Sport X is rolling off the production line, Kia reveals pricing for the affordable EV3 with up to 321 miles of range, and Lucid turns the three-row Gravity into a 1,070-horsepower Gravity GT-S.

We also dig into Audi’s fight to save its legendary five-cylinder engine, including the possibility of putting it into the Volkswagen Golf R, Chrysler’s plans for two vehicles priced below $30,000, the latest Mercedes-Benz C-Class technology, the 600-horsepower Dodge Charger Super Bee Launch Edition, Gordon Murray’s screaming 12,100-rpm V12 supercar and a new hydrogen land-speed record.

And Toyota has one of the strangest — and smartest — recall diagnostic procedures we’ve seen: technicians are literally using a plastic hammer to help determine whether recalled Toyota Tundra V6 engines need replacement. We explain how Toyota’s V35A Crank Bearing Inspection actually works.

    IN THIS EPISODE: 2027 Corvette Grand Sport X • Kia EV3 • Lucid Gravity GT-S • BMW recalls • BMW M engines • Audi five-cylinder • VW Golf R • Ford F-150 Raptor • Ford Bronco pickup • Lincoln Bronco-based SUV • four-door Ford Mustang • Chrysler Pacifica concepts • Chrysler Airflow/Aero plans • Mercedes-Benz C-Class • Gordon Murray S1 LM • Dodge Charger Super Bee • Jaguar Land Rover production • hydrogen land-speed record • Toyota Tundra engine recall

  • Ford’s $30K EV Pickup Revealed? Fathom Targets Affordable Electric Trucks
    Sep 4 2026

    #FordFathom #ElectricTruck #ford

Ford has revealed the name and starting price for the first vehicle based on its new Universal EV Platform. Fathom is expected to be a small electric pickup roughly the size of a Ford Maverick, with a starting price of $28,350. Ford sees its new affordable EV architecture as a major step toward bringing lower-cost electric vehicles to the mass market.

But that’s just the beginning of this edition of Cruise Control Motoring. Fred Staab and Les Jackson also dig into the growing problem of negative equity, with nearly 3 in 10 trade-ins underwater and some buyers carrying enormous amounts of old debt into their next vehicle. Mercedes admits touchscreens went too far, Ford explains a major July sales decline, and Ferrari’s roughly $600,000 electric model is already attracting buyers.

Plus: hybrids are beating battery EVs in California, Tesla insurance costs get a closer look, the Camaro could return for the 2029 model year, Hyundai’s Venue becomes one of America’s least-expensive new cars, heated seats top a surprising list of must-have features, and GM develops technology that could automatically adjust your mirrors to reduce blind spots. And yes, there’s still plenty of V8 news: Ford expands V8 availability in the F-150 while Ram changes course with the 5.7-liter HEMI.
