He shared insights about his short film titled "What's Bad Luck to a Club Like Ours?", which has already been showcased at the Horrific Hope Film Festival in Virginia. Excitingly, it’s set to appear at a special filmmaker showcase in Richmond, Virginia, and is currently being submitted to various festivals for awards consideration.Building a Filmmaking CommunityLeo is the founder of the Stavanger Filmmakers Club, established almost five years ago. Initially, the club had humble beginnings, starting with just one participant. However, through persistence and creativity, Leo transformed it into a thriving community that now produces feature films and short films.Grassroots Beginnings: The club started with a single meeting in a local bar.Community Growth: Leveraging Facebook for outreach, Leo attracted more members and created a space for collaboration and creativity.Collective Learning: The club encourages members to take on various roles, from writing to directing, fostering a culture of experimentation and growth.The Power of CollaborationOne of the most rewarding aspects of the Stavanger Filmmakers Club is the sense of community it fosters. Leo emphasized that the club creates opportunities for members to explore different facets of filmmaking:Skill Development: Members learn to write scripts, storyboard, and even direct their short films.Cross-disciplinary Growth: Photographers are now venturing into videography, while writers are stepping into directing roles.Supportive Environment: The club nurtures friendships and collaboration, allowing creatives to thrive in a supportive atmosphere.Embracing the Challenges of FilmmakingLeo candidly discussed the challenges he faces as a filmmaker and director. He noted that leading a group can be more daunting than financial constraints. However, he finds joy in the creative process and is open to exploring new opportunities in the industry.Balancing Multiple ProjectsIn addition to running the club and making films, Leo is also involved in post-production work for television, primarily with Netflix. His role includes:Budgeting and Scheduling: Keeping projects on track and within budget.Team Coordination: Organizing editors, composers, and other crew members to meet delivery deadlines.Leo’s ability to juggle multiple projects showcases his dedication and passion for the creative arts.The Writer's MindAs a writer, Leo has published several stories, including "The Audition Altar," which left a lasting impression on readers.
