  • Eternal Torment or Annihilation? (Part 1): Pete & Scott - Episode 272
    Mar 2 2026

In this special Duocast episode, Scott is joined by Pete Ohlinger of The Days of Noah Podcast for a thoughtful and biblical discussion on one of the most debated doctrines in Christianity today: Is hell eternal?

Recent public conversations among well-known Christian voices have revived interest in the doctrine of hell — specifically the debate between eternal conscious torment and annihilationism (conditional immortality). What does the Bible actually teach?

In Part 1 of this two-part discussion, Scott and Pete:

    • Introduce their ministries and the purpose behind their podcasts
    • Discuss the growing trend of doctrinal shifts in modern Christianity
    • Define eternal conscious torment and annihilationism
    • Examine whether immortality is inherent or conditional
    • Explore whether unbelief is the core issue in eternal judgment
    • Address the justice of God and the nature of divine punishment
    • Consider the “age of accountability” question
    • Begin examining key passages in Revelation concerning the Lake of Fire
This conversation is not about controversy for its own sake — it is about returning to Scripture and carefully handling what God has revealed.

As always, we approach this topic with humility, recognizing that while this is not a salvation issue, it is a serious theological one that deserves careful study and discernment.

Part 2 will continue this discussion and examine additional biblical texts and theological implications.

About Our Guest Pete Ohlinger is co-host of The Days of Noah Podcast, where he and his guests examine biblical prophecy, spiritual warfare, cultural deception, and the coming days described by Christ. We encourage our listeners to check out Pete’s work and follow his podcast.

  • What Does “Eye Hath Not Seen” Really Mean? (The Mystery Revealed)
    Mar 1 2026

What did Paul mean when he wrote, “Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard…”?

This verse is often quoted as a poetic reference to heaven—but in its full context, it speaks of something far more specific. Paul was not pointing to imagination. He was declaring a mystery once hidden in God and later revealed by the Spirit.

    In this lesson, we examine:

    • The full context of 1 Corinthians 2
    • Paul’s citation of Isaiah 64
    • The connection between loving God and waiting for Him
    • What it means to “love His appearing”
    • The mystery revealed to Paul in Ephesians 3
    • How Jew and Gentile are made fellow heirs in Christ
    • Why loving God includes loving your brother
    • What God has prepared for those who believe
The phrase “Eye hath not seen” does not mean God left us uninformed. The hidden wisdom of God has now been revealed through the gospel. The mystery is that salvation is available to all—Jew and Gentile alike—through faith in Jesus Christ.

To love God is not merely to say it. It is to believe on His Son, proclaim the truth, endure in faith, and look for the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.

    Christ is coming.
The mystery has been made known.
And what lies ahead surpasses anything the human heart has conceived.

    Key Scriptures
    • 1 Corinthians 2:6–10
    • Isaiah 64:1–5
    • Matthew 22:36–40
    • Titus 2:11–13
    • 2 Timothy 4:1–8
    • 1 John 4:7–21
    • 1 Thessalonians 1:2–10
    • Ephesians 3:1–11
The Gospel If you have never trusted Christ, believe the gospel. Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose again the third day for your justification. Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

If you are saved, love His appearing. Let it be known.

  • The Book of Enoch Examined, Part 3: Canon, Intercession, and the Test of Scripture - Episode 271
    Feb 23 2026
In this final installment of our series on the Book of Enoch, Scott Mitchell examines one of the most important questions of all: does the Book of Enoch meet the biblical standard for Scripture? This episode focuses on three critical issues—canon, intercession, and biblical authority—and compares the claims of the Book of Enoch directly against the Word of God. Scripture is clear that God has promised to preserve His Word, that Jesus Christ alone is our intercessor, and that angels are ministering spirits, not mediators. We also look at what the Bible actually teaches about access to the heavenly realm, why Christ’s sacrifice is central to that access, and why the Book of Enoch’s descriptions do not align with the timing and structure of redemption laid out in Scripture. The Book of Enoch may be historically interesting, but history is not inspiration. In this episode, Scott lays out why the early church was right to reject it from the canon—and why believers should test every extra-biblical writing against the preserved Word of God. In This Episode, You’ll Learn Why God’s promise to preserve His Word matters when testing any bookWhat Scripture teaches about who can intercede—and who cannotWhy angels are ministers, not mediatorsHow the Book of Enoch conflicts with the Bible’s teaching on judgment and intercessionThe difference between Ezekiel’s and John’s visions of God’s throne—and why timing mattersWhy access to the heavenly throne is only possible after Christ’s atoning workHow Hebrews explains when the way into the holiest was truly openedWhy the Book of Enoch fails the biblical test for inclusion in the canon Key Scriptures Discussed Psalm 12:6–7 – God’s promise to preserve His WordGenesis 6:5–8 – God’s judgment on the wickedness of manIsaiah 53:10–12 – The Messiah as intercessorHebrews 7:24–25 – Christ ever lives to make intercessionRomans 8:26–27 – The Spirit’s intercession for the saintsHebrews 1:4–14 – The nature and role of angelsPsalm 8:3–8 – Man’s place in God’s orderPsalm 115:16 – The heavens are the Lord’s, the earth given to menEzekiel 1:26–28 – Ezekiel’s vision of God’s throneRevelation 4:1–8 – John’s vision of the throne in heavenHebrews 9:6–12 – When the way into the holiest was made manifestJob 4:18 – God charging His angels with folly Summary The Bible does not leave the question of authority open-ended. God has preserved His Word, and He has revealed a clear structure for redemption, intercession, and divine order. When the Book of Enoch is tested against that standard, it falls short—especially in its teaching about angels, intercession, and access to the heavenly realm. This episode concludes the series by showing why the Book of Enoch should be treated as historical literature, not Scripture—and why believers must keep the canon grounded in what God has preserved and promised. • Is the Bible Really the Living Word of God?
    Feb 22 2026
Many believers affirm that Jesus Christ is the Word of God—but what about the Bible itself? Is Scripture truly God’s Word, or is it only a human record of spiritual ideas? In this lesson, Scott Mitchell responds to a listener’s question and examines what the Bible says about its own authority. From the Gospel of John to the writings of Paul and Peter, Scripture consistently presents itself as God-breathed, trustworthy, and unbreakable. Key Scripture Passages Referenced John 1:1, 14 – The Word was God, and the Word was made fleshJohn 10:34–35 – “The scripture cannot be broken”2 Peter 1:16–21 – A “more sure word of prophecy” and the origin of Scripture2 Timothy 3:14–17 – All Scripture is given by inspiration of GodPsalm 12:6–7 – The Lord preserves His wordsLuke 24:44–46 – Christ opens the understanding of the Scriptures1 Corinthians 15:1–4 – The gospel according to the ScripturesActs 17:2–3, 10–11 – Paul reasons from the Scriptures; the Bereans search them dailyRomans 16:25–26 – The mystery made known by the Scriptures of the prophets2 Peter 3:15–16 – Peter recognizes Paul’s writings as Scripture1 John 4:1–3 – Test the spirits1 Corinthians 2:6–13 – Spiritual things are discerned by the Spirit and compared with ScripturePsalm 138:2 – God has magnified His Word above His name What This Study Covers The biblical meaning of “the Word” (Logos) and its connection to ScriptureWhy Jesus treated Scripture as the authoritative Word of GodHow the apostles used Scripture to prove the gospel messageWhy Scripture is called “God-breathed” and what that means for believersHow God preserves His Word and why it remains the standard of truthWhy every spiritual claim must be tested by Scripture The Bible does not present itself as a collection of religious opinions. It presents itself as the written, preserved Word of God. The same Scriptures that testify of Christ also reveal the gospel that saves: that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again the third day according to the Scriptures. This message explains why Christians can confidently say the Bible is the Word of God—and why that truth remains central to faith, doctrine, and daily life. • The Only Begotten Son of God: The Biblical Meaning of Jesus Christ’s Humanity and Divinity
    Feb 15 2026
What does the Bible mean when it calls Jesus Christ the only begotten Son of God—and why does that phrase matter? In this message, Scott walks carefully through Scripture to show that “only begotten” is not a theological relic or a poetic expression, but a precise biblical truth that points directly to the incarnation, the cross, and the gospel itself. This study explains why Jesus had to be born of a woman, why He had to enter the human experience, and why only a true man could die for men—while still being fully God. By comparing Scripture with Scripture, we see how the Bible uses “only begotten” to affirm both Christ’s humanity and His divinity without confusion or compromise. You’ll also hear a clear biblical response to modern objections about the phrase “only begotten,” including the question of Isaac and Abraham, the meaning of promise, and why this language is essential to understanding salvation by grace through faith. In this episode, you’ll learn: What “only begotten Son of God” actually means in ScriptureWhy Jesus had to be born in the flesh in order to die for sinnersHow the Bible shows Christ to be fully God and fully manWhy Hebrews, Romans, Galatians, and John all point to the incarnationThe biblical meaning of “propitiation” and why it matters for salvationHow Isaac and the promise illustrate God’s plan in ChristWhy changing this phrase weakens the clarity of the gospelWhat it means to truly believe on the only begotten Son of God Key Scriptures: John 1:14, 18John 3:16–18Romans 1:3–4; 3:23–26Galatians 4:4–7; 3:26–29Hebrews 2:9–18; 4:14–15; 11:171 John 4:9–10 Main Takeaway: Jesus Christ did not merely appear as a man—He was born into the human experience so He could suffer, die, and become the perfect sacrifice for sin. The phrase “only begotten Son of God” protects this truth and keeps the gospel exactly where God put it: in a real Savior who really died and really rose again. • The Book of Enoch Examined, Part 2: Giants, Angels, and the Test of Scripture - Episode 270
    Feb 9 2026
The Book of Enoch is often promoted as a missing key to understanding Genesis 6, the Nephilim, and the fallen angels. In Part 2 of this series, Scott Mitchell and John Potts continue testing the Book of Enoch by the only reliable standard: the preserved Word of God. Rather than treating Enoch as inspired, this episode examines its language, claims, and internal consistency and compares them directly with Scripture. From questions about “orbits” and “luminaries,” to contradictions about eternal life, to the problem of Mount Hermon and the size of the giants, this study shows why the biblical fathers were right to reject Enoch from the canon. This is not about dismissing history—it’s about rightly dividing the Word of Truth and keeping Scripture as the final authority. In This Episode Why historical interest does not equal biblical inspirationThe standard of Scripture: preservation, consistency, and divine authorshipProblematic language in Enoch: “orbits” and “luminaries” vs. biblical wordingWhat the Bible actually teaches about eternal life—and why Enoch conflicts with itConfusion over the leader of the fallen angels in EnochThe claim about Mount Hermon and “mutual imprecations” tested against Hebrew ScriptureWhy the biblical names for Mount Hermon describe geography, not a curseThe giants of Enoch: why 3,000 ells (4,500 feet) makes no biblical or physical senseHow Scripture records giants—and why it never describes anything like Enoch’s claimsThe role of scribes, preservation, and why non-canonical books lack the marks of ScriptureWhy God’s Word keeps the focus on redemption in Christ, not angelic speculation Key Scriptures Referenced (KJV) Psalm 12:6–7 — God preserves His wordsGenesis 1:14–18 — God’s description of the lights in the heavensJob 38:31–33 — God names the stars and their ordinancesJohn 3:16; John 6:51 — Everlasting and eternal lifeRevelation 22:5 — Reigning with Christ foreverDeuteronomy 3:8–9 — The biblical names of Mount HermonGenesis 6:4 — The giants and “men of renown”Isaiah 8:20 — The test of all teaching by Scripture Main Takeaway The Book of Enoch may be interesting, but when it is tested by Scripture, it fails in language, doctrine, internal consistency, and agreement with God’s preserved Word. The Bible does not need to be corrected or supplemented. God has already given—and kept—what He intended His people to have. About This Series This is Part 2 of an ongoing examination of the Book of Enoch. The goal is not to elevate Enoch, but to compare everything to Scripture and to keep Christ and His redemptive work at the center of God’s Word. • The Mystery of Iniquity: Babylon, False Religion, and the Rise of the Man of Sin
    Feb 8 2026

In this message, Scott Mitchell examines the biblical warning that “the mystery of iniquity doth already work” and shows how Scripture traces this hidden system of deception from ancient Babel to the final rise of the man of sin. Using 2 Thessalonians 2 as the foundation, this study explains how something is presently restraining the full revelation of the Antichrist, even while the spiritual system behind him is already active in the world.

The lesson connects Jesus’ warnings about religious deception, Paul’s teaching on the falling away, and John’s vision of Mystery Babylon the Great in Revelation 17–18. You’ll see how false religion, rooted in Babylon, has shaped world history, why it is described as a system that traffics in the “souls of men,” and how it ultimately prepares the world to receive a false christ who will sit in the temple of God claiming to be God.

Scott also explains the biblical background of Babel, Nimrod, and the spread of idolatry through the nations, showing how this ancient rebellion against God continues under different names and forms today. The message closes with a sober warning about strong delusion in the last days—and a clear call to trust Jesus Christ, who alone will destroy the man of sin and bring this entire system to its end.

    Key Scriptures:
    2 Thessalonians 2, Matthew 7, Matthew 12–13, Genesis 10–11, Revelation 17–18, 1 Timothy 6

    In this episode, you’ll learn:

    • What the Bible means by the mystery of iniquity
    • How Babylon’s religious system began and why it still matters
    • Why false religion is central to the rise of the man of sin
    • How Revelation describes Mystery Babylon and her final judgment
    • What Scripture says about the coming deception and strong delusion
    • Why the only safety is in believing the gospel of Jesus Christ
Listen and be reminded: the mystery of iniquity is already at work, but its time is limited. Christ is coming, and He will destroy the man of sin and the system behind him with the brightness of His coming.

  • The Book of Enoch Part 1: Testing the Book of Enoch Against Scripture - Episode 269
    Feb 2 2026

In this episode of Bible Mysteries Podcast, Scott Mitchell and John Potts begin a careful, Scripture-based examination of the Book of Enoch. With increased interest in Enoch across Christian media, this study establishes clear biblical ground rules for evaluating non-canon writings without undermining the authority or preservation of God’s word.

Rather than dismissing Enoch outright—or elevating it to the level of Scripture—this episode tests the book using the biblical standard itself. Scott explains why quotation does not equal inspiration, why Scripture must interpret Scripture, and why internal contradictions disqualify any writing from being considered God-breathed.

This is Part 1 of a multi-part series.

    What This Episode Covers
    • Why the Book of Enoch must be examined through Scripture, not alongside it
    • The difference between inspiration, historical value, and quotation
    • God’s promise to preserve His word and why that promise matters today
    • Why claims about “the original Greek” or “the original Hebrew" are often misleading
    • How manuscript traditions affect modern Bible translations
    • Why Enoch’s opening chapter conflicts no with biblical prophecy
    • Mount Sinai vs. the Mount of Olives and why the distinction matters
    • The claim that “all upon the earth shall perish” and why Scripture disagrees
    • The biblical problem with the term “the watchers”
    • Why Jude’s quotation of Enoch does not canonize the entire book
    Key Scriptures Discussed
    • Genesis 3
    • Genesis 5:21–24
    • Psalm 12:6–7
    • Isaiah 24
    • Zechariah 14
    • Matthew 25:31–46
    • Romans 10
    • Galatians 4:24–26
    • Daniel 4
    • Jude 1:14–15
    • Acts 17:28
    • 2 Peter 1:20–21
Core Takeaway God’s word is self-authenticating, consistent, and preserved. Any book that contradicts what God has already revealed—especially on prophetic and doctrinal matters—cannot be Scripture.

The Book of Enoch raises important questions, but Scripture alone determines the answers.

What’s Coming Next In the next part of this series, Scott will continue examining where the Book of Enoch diverges from Scripture and will address topics often tied to Enoch, including the origin of demons and the distinction between demons and fallen angels.
