Beyond the Script is the podcast for women building businesses, bodies of work, and lives that actually reflect who they’ve become. Hosted by Nikki Lynn Mayo, founder of JALAYA Academy & Consulting Co. and creator of the SOURCE Identity Method™ and Experience-to-Income Framework™, this show explores identity, storytelling, leadership, sales, entrepreneurship, and the process of turning what you know and what you’ve lived into work that creates impact and income. Expect honest conversations about self-trust, reinvention, selling your expertise, building offers, becoming more visible, and making decisions from who you are now instead of who you had to be before. If you’re building something of your own, rewriting the way you see yourself, or figuring out how to turn your experience into something people will pay for, you’re in the right place. • EP 39 58% of Laid Off Workers Don't Go Back. Here's What They're Missing
    Sep 22 2026

What if your next chapter doesn’t require you to start over?

In this episode of Beyond the Script, I’m talking about career pivots, transferable skills, and why the experience you already have may be the exact thing that opens the door to what’s next.

I came across a statistic from LHH showing that while 58% of people going through career transitions landed in completely different roles, 53% of workers wanted to pivot but didn’t know how.

And that’s the problem we’re unpacking today.

Because starting over does not mean starting from the bottom.

You already have skills. You already have experience. You already know things that somebody else needs help with.

The question is: How do you translate what you know into something valuable, repeatable, and sellable?

Inside this episode, I walk through the Experience to Income Framework™:

I also share how I’ve done this throughout my own business. First using my corporate sales background, then email marketing, writing, spirituality, and eventually turning those experiences into frameworks, offers, and intellectual property.

Your first offer doesn’t have to be your forever offer.

Your current skill set doesn’t have to define the rest of your life.

Sometimes it’s simply the doorway into the next version of your work.

If you know you want something different but you’re stuck in the messy middle of “I know this isn’t it, but I don’t know what is,” this episode is your reminder to stop looking only at job titles and start looking at what you already know how to do.

    Start Here

How to Get Paid to Tell Your StoryIf you know you have valuable life or professional experience but you can’t figure out what part of it could become an offer, start here. This guide will help you extract the framework from your experience and identify what you can confidently sell.

Digitalize Your ExpertiseAlready know what you want to teach or sell? Digitalize Your Expertise walks you through turning that expertise into a defined digital offer and building the pieces around it so you can actually take it to market.

  • EP 38 The Cost of Lying to Yourself
    Sep 15 2026

What happens when the lies you tell yourself start costing you relationships, opportunities, time, and peace?

In this episode of Beyond the Script, I’m talking about the internal lies we tell ourselves — the ones that sound like “I’m fine,” “it’s not that bad,” “maybe it’ll change,” or “I just need to give it more time.”

Sometimes hope keeps us moving. But sometimes hope becomes the thing keeping us from facing what is actually happening right in front of us.

We stay in jobs we already know we’ve emotionally left. We hold onto relationships because we’re focused on someone’s potential instead of their patterns. We convince ourselves that something still works because admitting that it doesn’t would mean acknowledging that maybe we knew the truth much earlier.

In this episode, I talk about:

    * Why hope and reality have to exist at the same time

    * How “I’m fine” can turn into resentment when we refuse to acknowledge what we actually feel

    * What happens when you emotionally leave a situation long before you physically leave it

    * How idealizing or demonizing people can both distort reality

    * Why we sometimes stay longer because leaving would force us to admit we already knew

    * The opportunities we miss while holding onto situations that no longer serve us

    * How unresolved wounds and internal dishonesty can turn into projection

    * Why the evidence in your life often tells the truth before you’re willing to admit it

    * How intuitive writing can help uncover what you’ve been avoiding

One of the biggest questions from this episode:

What truth am I avoiding in my life?

Grab a notebook, set a timer for 10 minutes, and write without stopping, editing, or trying to make your answer sound good.

You might discover that you already know more than you think you do.

Because sometimes we don’t stay because we don’t know the truth.

Sometimes we stay because leaving would force us to admit that we knew earlier.

If you do the writing exercise from this episode, send me a DM and tell me what came up. Whether you found clarity, confirmation, or suddenly started questioning everything, I’d love to hear it.

  • EP 37 Fear of Success Is Just People-Pleasing in Disguise
    Sep 8 2026

What if your fear of success has nothing to do with being afraid to actually succeed?

In this episode of Beyond the Script, I’m unpacking something that came through for me recently: fear of success is actually be a form of people-pleasing.

    Because success changes things.

Your habits change. Your priorities change. Your availability changes. You change. And if you’ve spent years making sure everyone around you is comfortable, even at your own expense, becoming the version of you who gets what she wants can feel a whole lot more uncomfortable than staying where you are.

We’re talking about what fear of success can actually look like, why familiar chaos can feel safer than the unknown, and why you have to stop making yourself responsible for everyone else’s emotions and perceptions.

I’m also giving you three journaling prompts to sit with:

What about success makes me afraid?

Where am I holding on to things I need to let go of?

How am I not putting myself first?

You only get to be you once. At some point, the fear of staying the same has to become bigger than the fear of who might be uncomfortable when you change.
