    Joseph could no longer restrain himself in front of his servants. Joseph revealed himself to his brothers, but at first they do not believe him. Joseph’s brothers drew near and then they recognize their brother Joseph. Joseph reveals God‘s plan for the world and that there were five years of famine remaining. Joseph requested his father, return with his brothers to Egypt, and that he will provide for Jacob, his father. Pharaoh sends a tribute to Jacob and Jacob’s accepts the words of his sons that Joseph is still alive.

  • Genesis Chapter 44

    Joseph charges his servant with placing his silver goblet in Benjamin sack. The sons of Israel, leave Joseph‘s house and are stopped by Joseph servant to retrieve the silver goblet and enslave the one with whom it was found. All of the brothers returned to Joseph and Bear witness that they must return their youngest brother to their father so that he shall not die. Judah pleads with Joseph to remain behind, but to allow Benjamin to return to their father.

    The famine reaches the land of Canaan. Jacob sends his 10 sons to Egypt to buy provisions for their people. Joseph recognizes his brothers and declares them to be spies. Joseph keeps Simeon and sends the nine sons back to Jacob with provisions for their households. Joseph returns the money to their sacks. The nine sons recount their journey to their father Jacob. Jacob declares that Benjamin will not go down to Egypt to prove that they are not spies to Joseph, the viceroy in Egypt.

    The Chamberlain of the Cupbearers remembers Joseph two years to the day after he was restored to his post. Pharaoh has two dreams that no one can interpret. Joseph interprets pharaoh‘s dreams and becomes the second in command over Egypt. During the seven years of abundance, all the grain was stored in Egypt. The seven years of famine happened in all of the Earth and all of the inhabitants of the lands came to Egypt to Joseph for provisions.

    Joseph is purchased by Potiphar, a courtier of Pharaoh, the Chamberlain of the butchers. Joseph is appointed over Potiphar’s household. Potiphar’s wife pursues Joseph. Joseph refuses to sin against God by succumbing to Potiphar’s wife. Joseph is thrown into prison. The prison warden places Joseph all the inmates in Joseph’s custody.

    Judah, son of Jacob, marries Shua’s daughter and she bears him three sons. Er, Onan and Shelah. Er marries Tamar and dies before having children with Tamar. Onan performs a levirate marriage with Tamar but refuses to build up his brothers house and dies. Tamar is sent back to her father‘s house. Judah goes to Timnah and Tamar sees that she was not given to Shelah. Tamar, disguises herself as a prostitute and sits by the road. Judah consorts with Tamar and leaves her his signet, his wrap, and his staff. Later, Judah hears that Tamar is pregnant by harlotry. Tamar bears Perez and Zerah by Judah.
