This episode has a bit of everything.

Lachlan sits down with Australian Opal, two-time WNBL Champion and Tasmania Jewels foundation player Keely Froling for a wide-ranging basketball chat.

Keely talks about scoring 52 points in an NBL1 game, overcoming repeated knee injuries, competing against her twin sister Alicia, playing alongside some of Australia’s best and why she wanted to be part of building the Tasmania Jewels from the ground up.

They also chat Northern Force, WNBL rivalries, Steph Reid, Darcy Garbin, the Froling basketball family, physiotherapy, women’s basketball, LA 2028 and even the time George W. Bush walked into her college gym.

🎙️ A special episode celebrating two years of Ballerz Baffle.

In this episode of Ballerz Baffle, proudly brought to you by Swisherr Hoops Academy North, Lachlan sits down for the show’s first face-to-face interview with Zoe Mesman.

Zoe is the coach of the Northern Force Women’s NBL1 side, newly appointed Assistant Coach of the Tasmania Jewels, a former Tornadoes captain and coach, a school teacher, and a mum.

Lachlan and Zoe chat about the Northern Force season so far, building a strong team culture, recruiting good people, the impact of players like Keely Froling, Parker Hill, Becky and Sarah O’Neill, and what it takes to compete for finals.

They also talk about Zoe’s basketball journey, growing up around the game, being a role player, leadership, coaching, the importance of volunteers and parents, the future of women’s basketball in Tasmania, and of course, Zoe’s game-day whiteboard marker superstition.

A great basketball conversation about culture, hard work, teamwork and the future of hoops in Tassie.
