• S2 | Ep 26 - Val S Testimony
    Aug 29 2024

In this episode of the Awake in Sober podcast, Jeremy and his mother discuss their experiences with recovery and their faith in Christ. They also talk about the importance of finding a supportive community and the power of surrendering to God. The conversation touches on topics such as addiction, codependency, fear, and unconditional love. Through their stories, they highlight the transformative power of recovery and the importance of trusting in a higher power. In this conversation, Val shares her experience as a family member of individuals struggling with addiction and how Al-Anon has helped her in her own recovery journey. She discusses the importance of setting boundaries, not taking things personally, and focusing on her own well-being. Val emphasizes the role of faith and spirituality in her recovery and the importance of sharing her experience, strength, and hope with others. The conversation highlights the impact of addiction on families and the need for family members to work on their own individual programs.

A mainstay of our recovery stories is being completely honest with our support teams but, most importantly, honest with ourselves. How do we do that?

The answer is simple: we journal about our experiences, ideas, and goals. If you are anything like us, that means you journal A LOT and take a bunch of notes, so don't you deserve a great writing instrument?

We think you do, and so does the sponsor of the Awake and Sober Podcast Tactile Turn. If you have yet to use a Tactile Turn pen, let's be honest: are you even writing?!?

Welcome to The Wake and Sober Podcast! A podcast about Life in Recovery through Christ!

On this weeks episode we talk about Step 10, Continued to take personal inventory, and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.

Were finally to the "Maintenance Steps" of our Step Series. In order to maintain our recovery/sobriety and continue to improve daily we must take personal inventory through out the day to hold ourselves accountable for anything we might have done that exhibits old behaviors.

This is a great practice to go over with our sponsors or counselors to make these mistakes tangible in hopes to process and move forward in a healthy and appropriate manner.

We appreciate all of your support and as always...

We hope you enjoy the show!

    Takeaways

Daily inventory involves taking stock of one's thoughts, feelings, and actions for the day and promptly admitting any wrongdoing. Gratitude and mindfulness play a crucial role in the 10th step process, helping individuals recognize their blessings and be more aware of their actions. Implementing daily inventory can lead to a more fulfilling and balanced life by promoting self-awareness, responsibility, and accountability. Using guided journals and journal prompts can be helpful for those new to journaling and daily inventory. Regularly practicing daily inventory can prevent relapse and help individuals grow in their recovery journey.
