A note on why this one's late.

This episode is about the player whose work nobody saw, the coach whose words nobody heard, the games nobody watched. We're adding one more: the podcast nobody listened to when it was supposed to come out.

We recorded it three times this week, and editing it from the road didn't go much better. Going forward we're aiming for Wednesdays or Thursdays. This week just didn't work out that way.

In this episode: Week 0, when almost nobody played, and the one game that did — North Carolina 15, TCU 10 in Dublin, Bill Belichick's second season in college football.

Then the quarterback nobody was watching. Billy Edwards Jr. won North Carolina's job in his sixth college season at his fourth school, and spent the year he couldn't play making a thousand flashcards to learn the offense.

And back to Dublin for leadership. Coach Belichick, on camera late in the first half, told his own defense to stay off the punter. They rushed anyway, and the flag nearly handed TCU the game. Six Super Bowl rings, and it didn't matter — authority and obedience are not the same thing. Sometimes it's the person who does the boring thing correctly, when nobody would notice either way.

Armchair Pick of the Week: LSU and Clemson in Death Valley. We both took LSU, so Sam took the under on 45 combined points. Loser eats a salad with dressing made by the winner.
