  • YOU WERE TAUGHT TO STOP WANTING — What if desire isn’t the obstacle to your spiritual awakening?
    Oct 13 2026
In this episode, spiritual thought leaders Christopher Shaw & Aeon Archer explore desire, shame, craving, spiritual awakening, sexuality, pleasure, relationships, addiction, nonduality, consciousness, embodiment, Shakti, Icchā Śakti, and Divine Will through the wisdom of Kashmir Shaivism, Siddha Yoga, Hindu philosophy, psychology, mysticism, and nondual spirituality.Through spiritual teaching and a guided meditation, Christopher asks a provocative question:What if desire isn’t the obstacle to your spiritual awakening—but one of the ways the Divine is trying to awaken through you?Somebody taught you that wanting was the problem. Want too much and you’re selfish. Want the wrong thing and you should be ashamed. Become spiritual enough and eventually you won’t want anything at all.So we learned to suppress the hunger. To become reasonable. Appropriate. Good. Spiritual. But the desire didn’t disappear. It went underground. And sometimes it returned as craving, compulsion, resentment, numbness, secret lives, or the persistent feeling that something inside us had gone missing.Because shame doesn’t eliminate desire. It teaches desire to hide.In the nondual tradition of Kashmir Shaivism, Icchā Śakti is the power of Divine Will—the creative movement of Consciousness toward expression.Shiva does not create because Shiva is incomplete.Creation arises from fullness. So what if our spiritual task is not simply to eliminate desire—but to become conscious enough to discern what our desire is actually revealing? There is a profound difference between:I want this.andI need this to make me whole. The problem may not be what you want. The problem may be what you’ve decided getting it will mean about you. This episode explores what happens when we stop automatically obeying desire, stop automatically suppressing it, and learn instead to sit close enough to the fire to hear what it is saying.✨ Reflection Questions• What do I actually want—not what I should want?• What have I stopped allowing myself to want?• What do I believe getting what I want will give me?• What do I want beneath what I want?• Is this desire arising from aliveness, from a sense of lack, or from some mixture of both?• Where has shame driven my desire underground?• Can I experience wanting without immediately satisfying or suppressing it?• What is the Divine seeking to express through me?🔥 Practice of the WeekRECOGNIZE.Tell the truth about what you want. No shame. No spiritual editing. No immediate action required.REMAIN.When desire arises, stay with the energy before automatically obeying it or pushing it away. Feel the fire. Become curious about what is underneath it.RESPOND.Ask what an honest response from wholeness would look like. Desire is information—not necessarily instruction. Then ask:What do I actually want, beneath what I want? And finally:What is the Divine seeking to express through me?You were not born to be desireless. You were born to awaken to the Divine within you, through you, and as you—and from that recognition, to participate fully in the extraordinary experience of being alive.Stop apologizing for the fire. It was never yours to put out.━━━━━━━━━━━━━━🌐 MERKABA TEMPLEJoin us live every Sunday:Merkaba Temple Sunday ServiceSupport Merkaba Temple:Donate to Merkaba Temple━━━━━━━━━━━━━━🌿 ARCHERSHAWUpcoming Events, Satsangs & Ceremonies:ArcherShaw EventsExplore ArcherShaw:ArcherShaw━━━━━━━━━━━━━━🌎 MERKABA RETREATSPrivate 1:1, Couples & Chosen Family Immersions:Merkaba RetreatsWatch the new Merkaba Retreats Brand Film on the homepage.━━━━━━━━━━━━━━🎙 LISTEN TO MORE TEACHINGSListen to ArcherShaw Teachings📖 READ ESSAYS & SPIRITUAL REFLECTIONSMerkaba Temple Essays & Reflections❤️‍🔥 SUPPORT MERKABA TEMPLEVenmo: @MerkabaTempleSupport Merkaba Temple🔱 ArcherShaw Temple — Teachings for Sovereign AwakeningIf this episode served you, share it with someone standing at a threshold of becoming.

  • WHO MUST WE BECOME? | Spiritual Awakening Is Not the Finish Line
    Sep 29 2026

In this episode, spiritual thought leaders Christopher Shaw & Aeon Archer explore spiritual awakening, spiritual transformation, spiritual formation, mystical experience, nonduality, psychedelics, consciousness, embodiment, relationships, ego, Ganesha, personal growth, and spiritual maturity through the wisdom of Hindu philosophy, nondual spirituality, psychology, mysticism, and interspiritual spirituality.

Through spiritual teaching and a guided meditation, Christopher asks a provocative question:

What if the point of the spiritual path is not to have extraordinary experiences—but to become an extraordinary human being?

We have never had greater access to spiritual information.

We can meditate, study ancient wisdom, attend retreats, explore psychedelics, practice yoga, awaken Kundalini, experience synchronicities, encounter nonduality, and have profound mystical experiences.

We can know our attachment style, our Enneagram number, our Human Design, our trauma history, our dosha, our astrological chart, and our past lives— and still be an asshole.

Because knowing ourselves is not the same thing as transforming ourselves.

Spiritual information without spiritual formation just gives the ego a more sophisticated vocabulary.

This episode asks what happens when spirituality moves beyond what we know, believe, or experience and begins asking something of the way we actually live.

    ✨ Reflection Questions

    • Is my spiritual practice actually changing the way I live?
    • Where have I confused understanding myself with transforming myself?
    • What spiritual experience or insight is still asking to become embodied?
    • Where am I asking “What does this mean?” when I might need to ask “What is this asking of me?”
    • What situation in my ordinary life may actually be part of my spiritual formation?
    • What way of being can no longer come with me?
    • Who must I become to hold the life I keep asking for?
    • Who is my life asking me to become now?

    🔥 Practice of the Week

    NOTICE THE INITIATION.
Pay attention to the ordinary moments that challenge your presence, honesty, humility, patience, courage, or capacity to love.

    MOVE FROM MEANING TO RESPONSIBILITY.
When you find yourself asking, “What does this mean?” add a second question: “What is this asking of me?”

    WATCH FOR THE OBSTACLE WITHIN.
Without shame or self-attack, notice whether an old defense, identity, habit, resentment, or way of being is preventing you from moving forward.

    PRACTICE EMBODIMENT.
Choose one spiritual truth you already know and practice living it rather than learning more about it.

    ASK THE QUESTION.

    Not someday.

    Not when everything makes sense.

    Not when the obstacle disappears.

Who is my life asking me to become now?

  • The Wisdom of the Obstacle: A Teaching of Ganesha
    Sep 15 2026
In this episode, spiritual teacher Aeon Archer explores the wisdom of Ganesha, Ganesh Chaturthi, obstacles, surrender, spiritual discernment, recovery, transformation, and the question of what life may be asking of us when the path refuses to unfold according to plan. Following the teaching, Christopher Shaw leads a guided meditation for bringing this wisdom into direct relationship with an obstacle in your own life.Ganesha is one of the most beloved forms of the Divine within Hindu tradition—the elephant-headed Lord of Beginnings, bearer of wisdom, and famously, the Remover of Obstacles. But what if the deeper wisdom of Ganesha is not that every obstacle should be removed? What if some obstacles are meant to be faced? Some moved? Some accepted? Some surrendered? And what if sometimes the obstacle is revealing something about us?This teaching, offered as Merkaba Temple begins its celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi, explores the symbolism carried within Ganesha’s extraordinary form: the elephant head, the great ears, the broken tusk, and the tiny mouse upon which this enormous deity rides. Each offers a different spiritual invitation.Listen more deeply. Discern before reacting. Allow what has been broken to become useful. Learn to work skillfully with desire rather than being ruled by it.At the center of the teaching is a distinction that matters far beyond Ganesha:Surrender is not the same thing as abdication.Spiritual surrender does not mean becoming passive in our own lives. There are moments when the obstacle before us requires acceptance, but there are also moments when what is required is a difficult conversation, a boundary, an apology, asking for help, changing direction, beginning again, or taking responsibility for something we have been asking the Divine to do for us.Perhaps the prayer is not only:“Remove this obstacle.”Perhaps it is also:“Show me what is mine to do.”Aeon brings this teaching into the lived experience of recovery and transformation, where the things that once appeared to have destroyed the path can sometimes become part of what gives our lives depth, wisdom, compassion, and purpose. The broken places do not necessarily disappear. But they can become something else. The broken tusk can become the pen.Following the teaching, Christopher Shaw leads a guided meditation on The Wisdom of the Obstacle, inviting you to bring one real obstacle from your life into awareness and listen beneath the urgency to fix it.Rather than asking immediately how to make it disappear, the meditation invites several deeper questions:What am I not seeing? Is this asking me to act, or is this asking me to surrender? Is there something I need to change, or something I need to accept? And finally:What is mine to do now?✨ Reflection Questions• What obstacle am I currently trying to force my way through? • What might this obstacle be revealing that I have not yet seen? • Am I being asked to persist, surrender, wait, or change direction? • Where might I be contributing to the very obstacle I want removed? • Am I asking the Divine to do something that is actually mine to do? • What is the next right action available to me now?🔥 Practice of the WeekNAME THE OBSTACLE. Choose one place in your life that feels blocked. Resist the temptation to work on everything at once.LISTEN BEFORE ACTING. Before deciding what the obstacle means, become quiet enough to notice what it is actually revealing.DISCERN ACTION FROM SURRENDER. Ask whether this moment requires movement, patience, a boundary, a conversation, acceptance, or release.TAKE YOUR PART. Notice where something belongs to you. Spiritual practice is not an escape from participation in your own life.ASK: “WHAT IS MINE TO DO NOW?” You do not need the entire path. You need the next faithful step.🐘 Om Gam Ganapataye Namaha.━━━━━━━━━━━━━━🌐 MERKABA TEMPLEJoin us live every Sunday: Merkaba Temple Sunday ServiceSupport Merkaba Temple: Make an Offering━━━━━━━━━━━━━━🌿 ARCHERSHAWUpcoming Events, Satsangs & Ceremonies: ArcherShaw EventsExplore ArcherShaw: ArcherShaw━━━━━━━━━━━━━━🌎 MERKABA RETREATSPrivate 1:1, Couples & Chosen Family Immersions: Merkaba RetreatsWatch the new Merkaba Retreats Brand Film on the homepage.━━━━━━━━━━━━━━🎙 LISTEN TO MORE TEACHINGS Listen📖 READ ESSAYS & SPIRITUAL REFLECTIONS Read❤️‍🔥 SUPPORT MERKABA TEMPLEVenmo: @MerkabaTemple Make an Offering🔱 ArcherShaw Temple — Teachings for Sovereign AwakeningIf this episode served you, share it with someone standing at a threshold of becoming.
