  • 🟡 Darian’s ADHD: Finding purpose, ignoring her inner critic and becoming an author
    May 3 2024

Darian Simone Harvin is a beauty reporter for the LA Times and has written for The Cut, Teen Vogue, and The New York Times. We met at a moment when we were both in personal and professional transition, unclear of what our purpose was, which can be a scary time for an ADHD brain. When you don’t have a clear North Star, it’s nearly impossible to focus and be productive.

In the four years since we met, Darian has gone on to write a book, “Black Icons in Herstory,” and launch Studio Symone, a media platform and community centered around culture through the lens of beauty.

We talk about how she found her professional purpose, including what it takes to write a book, morning routines, the types of people she surrounds herself with, bad doctors, depression because of prescription pills, and how she uses fashion as an ADHD hack.

I really appreciate how vulnerable and honest she was. Enjoy my conversation with Darian Simone Harvin.

    In this episode, you'll discover:

    • ADHD and Career Growth: How Darian overcame the hurdles of ADHD to excel as a journalist and author, transforming challenges into opportunities for growth.
