"Narrators Fiona Hardingham and Steve West lend their exceptional vocal skills to this fantasy novel...Both narrators deliver commanding performances steeped in drama and suspense, drawing out every ounce of emotion and intrigue: — AudioFile Magazine, Earphones Award winner

Set in a richly detailed world inspired by ancient Arabia, Hafsah Faizal's We Hunt the Flame--first in the Sands of Arawiya series--is a gripping debut of discovery, conquering fear, and taking identity into your own hands.

People lived because she killed. People died because he lived.

Zafira is the Hunter, disguising herself as a man when she braves the cursed forest of the Arz to feed her people. Nasir is the Prince of Death, assassinating those foolish enough to defy his autocratic father, the sultan. If Zafira was exposed as a girl, all of her achievements would be rejected; if Nasir displayed his compassion, his father would punish him in the most brutal of ways. Both Zafira and Nasir are legends in the kingdom of Arawiya—but neither wants to be.

War is brewing, and the Arz sweeps closer with each passing day, engulfing the land in shadow. When Zafira embarks on a quest to uncover a lost artifact that can restore magic to her suffering world and stop the Arz, Nasir is sent by the sultan on a similar mission: retrieve the artifact and kill the Hunter. But an ancient evil stirs as their journey unfolds—and the prize they seek may pose a threat greater than either can imagine.

First of all: I really enjoyed the narration, well done, two speakers for two perspectives shown.

The story. I was very unsure how to review is. The arabian setting with it's food, deserts and weapons really makes a difference, it is wonderful! The language and descriptions of this book are also a pleasure. It surprised me that no religion was shown, but I didn't mind. The characters all had a painful past and the side characters had a much more interesting personality than the main two, with a more .. easy and direkt, not really thought-through way to act. The love story seams kind of forced and always proceeds when one would think they better put their minds to the quest and dangers. There are a lot of revelations, but not many surprises in this book. Still, I would recommend this for a short break from reality with not much to think about, but much to enjoy.

Beautiful setting for a classic good vs evil fight

Hafzsh Faizal is most certainly a gifted author and will in all likelihood have a long, successful writing career. However, it’s too obvious that she’s a young and inexperienced author. As I said above, I very much wanted to love this book. But I found it much too full of cliches. Unfortunately the choice of the narrators have done it a disservice as well. Contrary to what most reviewers say (they didn’t like the female narrator), I found the male reader absolutely unbearable. He seemed to either deeply dislike the book or then his intention was to ridicule it…. Also I think it was very unwise to choose narrators who don’t have the slightest inkling of Arabic.

I really wanted to love this
