From the New York Times and internationally bestselling authors of the Illuminae Filescomes a new science fiction epic . . .

The year is 2380, and the graduating cadets of Aurora Academy are being assigned their first missions. Star pupil Tyler Jones is ready to recruit the squad of his dreams, but his own boneheaded heroism sees him stuck with the dregs nobody else in the academy would touch . . .

A cocky diplomat with a black belt in sarcasm
A sociopath scientist with a fondness for shooting her bunkmates
A smart-ass tech whiz with the galaxy's biggest chip on his shoulder
An alien warrior with anger-management issues
A tomboy pilot who's totally not into him, in case you were wondering

And Ty's squad isn't even his biggest problem--that'd be Aurora Jie-Lin O'Malley, the girl he's just rescued from interdimensional space. Trapped in cryo-sleep for two centuries, Auri is a girl out of time and out of her depth. But she could be the catalyst that starts a war millions of years in the making, and Tyler's squad of losers, discipline cases, and misfits might just be the last hope for the entire galaxy.

NOBODY PANIC.

Opinie krytyków

"This intergalactic space opera has it all: action, thrills, suspense, laughs, and all the feels."—Kirkus Reviews, Starred Review

"Rotating perspectives and never-flagging energy propel this narrative forward, which, if it wasn't compelling enough on its own, is given illustrious life by its ragtag, always-at-odds cast."—Booklist, Starred Review

Zielgruppe: 16 Jahre

I love me a good ensemble! And the story managed to avoid role cliché (most of the time), despite having a very classical ensemble/crew structure. There is one very clichéd aspect in the love story, but when everything else is good and original, one more familiar plotline helps to settle rather than being annoying.

There was no dull moment, I never got frustrated from getting anything too expected, the characters are wonderful, the representation/diversity is good, the plot is strong.

Okay, gonna go now, need to start the next book in the series. NOW

Best balanced ensemble in a while!

I didn’t really know what to expect from this new sci-fi adventure by the brilliant Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff - just that I expected it to be as epic as The Illuminae Files. And it did not disappoint. An amazing start to a new series in which a group of misfits has to save the galaxy. The audiobook is absolutely brilliant.

Another epic sci-fi

Fast-paced, creative plot with good character work! I loved the different perspectives, which often 1st Person books lack, but since we've different POVs here it works beautifully. The world building is imaginative and I'm looking forward to the next book! I also loved that it was a little diverse!

Beautiful interplay of Pace, Plot and Characters
