A #1 New York Times bestseller!

“A rip-roaring adventure merged with satisfying romance.” —Entertainment Weekly
“[A] swashbuckling launch to the Eldest Curses series.” —Publishers Weekly

From #1 New York Times and USA TODAY bestseller Cassandra Clare and award-winner Wesley Chu comes the first book in a new series full of “swoon-worthy romance [and] abundant action” (Publishers Weekly). The Red Scrolls of Magic is a Shadowhunters novel.

All Magnus Bane wanted was a vacation—a lavish trip across Europe with Alec Lightwood, the Shadowhunter who against all odds is finally his boyfriend. But as soon as the pair settles in Paris, an old friend arrives with news about a demon-worshipping cult called the Crimson Hand that is bent on causing chaos around the world. A cult that was apparently founded by Magnus himself. Years ago. As a joke.

Now Magnus and Alec must race across Europe to track down the Crimson Hand before the cult can cause any more damage. Demons are now dogging their every step, and it is becoming harder to tell friend from foe. As their quest for answers becomes increasingly dire, Magnus and Alec will have to trust each other more than ever—even if it means revealing the secrets they’ve both been keeping. Opinie krytyków

"In the first audiobook in The Eldest Curses trilogy (part of The Shadowhunter Chronicles), B.D. Wong, known for his work in Disney films, television, and theater, gives voice to warlock Magnus Bane and his boyfriend, Alec Lightwood. While touring Europe after the Mortal War, they discover a cult that is determined to cause chaos. Wong engages with the gripping tale's accelerating intrigue as Magnus and Alec race across the continent to stop the cult. Wong puts listeners directly in the center of events as the heroes cut it close all the way to the end.

This first part of the eldest curses was so interesting. It was kinda wired and funny at the same time, to see everyone how they were around the time of city of glass. Getting to know how alec and magnus started of their relationship, is so bittersweet. It was cute and adoring, to learn that both were so unsure at the beginning, of what the other wants and how the other one might be feeling about all of this. Trying for everything to be perfect, instead of relaxing and see where things were going.
The storyline about the cult was very intriguing and so full of the past, present and a lot of details. I’m curious where the journey take Malec next.

I liked the book itself, the story was entertaining but at times a little sappy.
The narrator was not my thing though. Every character ends up sounding whiny, the chinese accents are difficult to understand and especially the women sound like they're 12. I think this might have been better as an actual book rather than an audio book.

Story was good, narrator not so much
