Geralt the Witcher - revered and hated - holds the line against the monsters plaguing humanity in the bestselling series that inspired the hit Witcher Netflix show and video games.

Geralt of Rivia is a Witcher, a man whose magic powers and lifelong training have made him a brilliant fighter and a merciless assassin. Yet he is no ordinary killer: he hunts the vile fiends that ravage the land and attack the innocent. But not everything monstrous-looking is evil; not everything fair is good . . . and in every fairy tale there is a grain of truth.

Translated by David French.

Andrzej Sapkowski, winner of the World Fantasy Lifetime Achievement award, started an international phenomenon with his Witcher series. Opinie krytyków

Like a complicated magic spell, a Sapkowski novel is a hodge podge of fantasy, intellectual discourse, and dry humour. Recommended
Geralt is one of the great characters in all of fantasy. Whether you're coming from the games, TV show, or are simply new to the Witcher universe - these books are absolutely worth the read
This is a series you can sink your teeth into
Like Mieville and Gaiman, [Sapkowski] takes the old and makes it new . . . [a] fresh take on genre fantasy
Delightful, intense, irreverent, and compelling . . . you have to read The Witcher books because they are rife with all of the elements that make you love fiction, and especially fantasy, in the first place . . . In a word, The Witcher delivers
One of the best and most interesting fantasy series I've ever read

Fantastic performance, fantastic story. Peter Kenny has outdone himself in this reading, improving further on his already great previous performance on The Last Wish.

Simply outstanding!

I liked all the ways you discover how the characters met and how those meetings intertwined with each other. This was the book I read last which I feel made for a far more interesting way to find out about the characters. I did take me a while to settle in to the book and find it's flow; I found that true of all the Witcher series books. Fascinating enough to keep listening, not always easy to follow all the threads.

Discovery...

Everything is great about this book. Only the narrator talks too fast. I put the speed of the audiobook at 0.85x and then it became an awesome experience.

0.85x playback speed is the clue!

This audiobook was awesome, simple as that. Peter Kenny does voices fantastically and his pronunciation of the different and difficult names seemed amost easy.
Yarpen Zigrin's Herald scene made me laugh out in public which triggered some weirded out looks.
The stories were so smooth and the different characters and monsters were so distinct and interesting that I had to keep on listening.
Will listen to more Sapkowski/Kenny. Can't wait actually!

Fantastic!
