Über diesen Titel

A runaway planet hurtles toward Earth. As it draws near, massive tidal waves, earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions wrack our planet, devastating continents, drowning cities, and wiping out millions. In central North America, a team of scientists race to build a spacecraft powerful enough to escape the doomed Earth. Their greatest threat, they soon discover, comes not from the skies but from other humans.

A crackling plot and sizzling, cataclysmic vision have made When Worlds Collide one of the most popular and influential end-of-the-world novels of all time.

Considering that this book was written 90 years ago, it's undeniable that some of the dialogues and beliefs about life and society may appear a bit outdated. Nevertheless, this novel presents an outstanding and incredibly imaginative end-of-the-world story.

Authors Philip Wylie and Edwin Balmer managed to craft a captivating portrayal of the impending apocalypse that remains fascinating even today. The way they depict the threat posed by the collision of Bronson Alpha and Bronson Beta with Earth is impressive and immerses the reader into this world of imminent catastrophe.

While I experienced the story as an audiobook, I must emphasize that the narrator Peter Ganim was truly exceptional. His skillful delivery brought the characters to life in a way that enhanced the overall experience.

Of course, one must take into account the societal norms and views of their era that are reflected in the dialogues and characters. Yet, even these aspects can be intriguing as historical artifacts, offering insight into how our society has evolved over the decades.

In summary, I really recommend "When Worlds Collide." It is not only an exciting end-of-the-world narrative but also a work that addresses timeless themes such as collaboration, survival, and the resilience of the human spirit in extreme circumstances. It illustrates that great stories can transcend time and continue to captivate readers today.

I truly enjoyed "When Worlds Collide"!
