Über diesen Titel

To find the truth, Claire must expand her realities.

Claire has survived the devastating beginning of Merge Prime, imprisonment by the anomaly-hunting organization SHOCKS, and a trip to a dying world. Now reunited with her friends and family, and with her sister bonded to a powerful anomaly of her own, Claire must turn to unexpected allies if she wants to save their lives.

The new leader of SHOCKS reaches out to her with a deal—and a way to fight back against the apocalypse. He believes that by combining several anomalies with Claire's unique, System-given powers, she can target worlds that are merged with Earth and break them free. In return for her cooperation, the organization agrees to protect her family. The enemy of Claire's enemy might just be her friend. She agrees.

Armed with James, an AI/human hybrid personality, Claire returns to SHOCKS's fold—but this time, she's the one in control. She'll have to survive trips into destroyed cities, ghostly ship graveyards, and her own memory made real. And all the while, SHOCKS is trying to keep secrets, James and the System have their own agendas, and Claire's sister is locked in a fight for survival all her own, with the stakes her body and free will. If Claire wants to find the truth about Merge Prime and the angelic entity that keeps hunting her across realities, she'll have to juggle all of it, and more.

Listening to this one, the first book was only the introduction getting Claire to where she needed to be in order to get stuff done.
The different Merges are diverse, creepy and fascinating. The character interactions are well done, and I like Claire much better here than previously. Her "equation" thinking still seems pretty gimmicky, but it's not as pervasive as in the first book. We're not stuck in her head as much, since she's grown powerful and skilled enough to be a real asset in the fight against whatever is causing Merge Prime, and the mystery is slowly but surely unfolding.

Really picking up the pace!
