Ashonn is a bad man who does good deeds for the wrong reasons.
As a slayer, he travels to the edges of civilization killing monsters that the world of magic creates. Countless minions of darkness have fallen by his hand. Yet Ashonn is capable of mercy. Encountering a death priest by the name of Zair, he spares his life despite the knowledge that the priest is there to collect his soul if he's slain.
The unlikely pair journey together to Cloven Hill to investigate rumors of necromancy. There they discover the town destroyed by a war between humans and demi-humans. The area is a graveyard ripe for the plucking by a necromancer armed with a book that could bring forth an Army of Bone.
Were the necromancer to succeed, the world would be plunged into the Endless Night--a notion Ashonn finds quite compelling. This leaves the slayer with a difficult decision. Should he battle the Shadow Lords invading his territory? Or seize their powers and rule the world as a dark god?
