An aging judge about to step down. Aggressive prosecutors friendly with the judge. A disgraced president. A nation that had already made up its mind....

The Watergate trials were a legal mess - and now, with the discovery of new documents that reveal shocking misconduct by prosecutors and judges alike, former Nixon staffer Geoff Shepard has a convincing case that the wrongdoing of these history-making trials was actually a bigger scandal than the Watergate scandal itself.

Nixon is known for having both indisputable strengths and crippling weaknesses - and likewise does this book, Geoff Shepard is a former Nixon aide and thus clearly and visibly biased. But, that does not mean that he can't provide some interesting insight and a new perspective to the Watergate scandal. He is, as far as I can tell, thorough in reviewing evidence that supports Nixon's case and uncovers flaws in the trial. What weakens the book in my opinion are the sharp personal attacks towards nearly everyone who stood against Nixon which remind the listener that this is not a review done from an independent standpoint, but by someone who by all means tries to defend the man. Still, for those interested it is worthwhile and well-narrated by Chris Abell.
